The decision has already been made! Read the HotRod article...listen to what has already been said a dozen times lately.....

We're getting the Sigma IRS with stamped steel control arms and strut front suspension......no more arguments, it's a done deal.

Other than final styling tweeks, there ain't a lot left to dicker over.....options, maybe.

Model lineup has been determined......engines have been determined, the body configuration has been determined too.

We're just playing armchair quarterback here....on last weeks game no less.....
Not to be negative Ned here, Doug, but I'm not going to believe anything is set in stone until I see it on the dealer lot. I can hope that you're right though

I hope they do (or have done) something to control wheel hop. GTO certainly has it, and Vette is not immune either (won't even bother mentioning 99-04 Cobra IRS issues).

For everyone saying they will not buy a 5th gen with struts , can you explain exactly why ...other than you think its outdated ? Geez , its not like it would be a direct copy of a 25 year old 3rd gen front suspension .

If , theoretically , the new Camaro absolutey trounced all its competitors in handling , and driveablity ...would you still not buy it because it simply because it has struts

Point taken. How does the BMW strut setup differ from the thirdgen setup? They seem to be doing well with it.

3rd gens use a basic MacPherson strut set up. BMW's combine struts with a sophisticated multi-link control arm. This allows for better tunability and less wheel deflection.

A good SLA however, is better.

Re: Anyone here read HOT ROD?

Don't forget that the 3rd gen setup is not a true Macpherson arrangement.

3rd gens have the springs located inboard of the strut rather than on it. It is my understanding that this modification to the Macpherson arrangment introduces side loads and stiction in the strut.

It is also my understanding that this is why 3rd gens feel so "racy". The strut doesn't move on the initial impact / transition like it should.
