Does it really weigh 3450 pounds when based off of a 2007 GT, and with a full tank of gas, etc?

lighter than the shelby, yeah. What was that term, oh yeah, "mass-neutral" compared to the regular GT I say 3600 to 3700 lbs.

Roush 427 road test.
AT A GLANCE:
2007 ROUSH 427R MUSTANG
On Sale: Now
As-tested Price: $48,691
Powertain: 4.6-liter, 427-hp, 391-lb-ft supercharged V8; rwd, five-speed manual
Curb Weight: 3450 lbs
0 to 60 mph: 4.5 seconds (est.)
Fuel Mileage (EPA combined/AW observed): 17.5/12.9 mpg
We (should) all know that Ford relies heavily on Dario Orlando (Steeda) and Jack Roush (Roush Performance) to do niche development work for them. In fact, Dario Orlando was instrumental in production development on the 2005 Mustang - which I found surprising that Ford would put that much cred on the line, but they did.
Well, Jack has long-been the engine and powertrain developer for Ford, and that appears to be the indication again. It seems that their group has managed to put the Mustang on a diet while simultaneously tweaking the 4.6 into new ground.
I am in no way saying the 427R is the next Bullitt - no way - but I fully expect to see some of the development work (chassis and engine) in the next Bullitt. Everything looks good for such a fit.
Now, I reiterate... if you have 3450 curb weight, with a blower and ground effects... what happens when I ditch the ground effects and blower?
Now just how much extra oomph was the blower putting in?
Is 360 n/a such a far reach? @3400lbs?
Better yet, what will a new pulley do for the 427/391 figures - even at 3450 lbs?
BTW - this car just went on sale recently, and I just reviewed the first road tests about 2 weeks ago, so this is pretty new stuff. I am still not able to track down just how much emphasis was put on weight reduction by Ford or Jack Roush himself, but I doubt seriously if they just "found" 300 lbs of dead weight to whack. I suspect we are at the beginning of a more serious and intentional effort to get weight out of cars as a whole. I'd certainly like to see it with the next Mustang (maybe hints of it in the Bullitt) and certainly in the Camaro when it arrives.

From what I've seen, Autoweek always uses base mfr supplied curb weight, even on the autofile reports. I'm still skeptical about that 3450 number. I guess we'll know for sure when someone puts one on a scale.
If Roush really pulled it off, then it's quite an accomplishment.

Re: 2008 Bullitt, and a new engine...
Eeerr....don't care for the Roush stuff. Too much money for too little go, IMHO (personal preference, of course). Also, I don't buy the 3450 lb weight quoted in the Autoweek article. Virtually every addition/change to the base GT adds weight - and a stock 2007 GT just happens to be 3450 lbs.
Coincidence? Doubt it. I'd bet a paycheck that Autoweek just used that weight in the article. It wouldn't surprise me at all if this car were 200-300 lbs heavier.

Re: 2008 Bullitt, and a new engine...
The Boss is not going to be in 08 (the bullitt is... nothing big)
it won't have a 5.0L
The 4.6L 4v apparently got canned...
Unknown about the 5.4
The 2009 will be the same as the 08
The 2010 is the redesign
The greenhouse is the same
It will have hips and look more aggressive.
The BOSS motors will be in at some point... Fourcam330 on SVT states 2011 for the 6.2L
Unknown about the 5.8L

Just found this. Don't know who this guy is, but he appears to be a representative of Ford and is saying the Bullitt is a go:

This was made sometime late last year, and a news story about it was posted here on this site.
We've known about it here for some time.

WHEW!!!
I saw this thread on the top page and I thought,"Oh crap... Guy or Charlie have found out something new and shot me down on my predictions!"
It's definitely on go, along with some unique Shelby models as well.
I expect we will see some new parts on the Bullitt that will be found on later base units. Likewise, we may see a few peices of unique bodywork that will indicate what is coming on the refresh. Not hugely similar, but trendy and indicative.

Haha, yeah sorry about that. I'm a little new to the boards so I didn't read that far back.
I figured that was Mark Fields. Heard the name a bunch of times but never seen his picture. But hey, good to know the Bullitt is definitely going to be produced again. Thanks!
