2008 Bullitt, and a new engine...
Ok - I'm playing devil's advocate today...
guionM posted a thread a while back titled "Signs of life & reason at Ford. 2008 shaping up already."
In it, he quoted," Ford will make the new Mustang Bullitt for 2008. This one comes from Mark Fields himself."
This was released to the press back on 14Sep06, and in it was a comment that there will be a new engine in the Bullitt package. This is pretty much concrete. Mark Fields made a statement to the media on 15Sep06 and his statement had guionM's line in it.
I was kind-of amazed that nobody expounded on guionM's comment about the Bullitt's return - especially one significant poster in this forum.
SO I'm gonna take the lead and poke/prod a little because you guys are all pretty astute on old car nostalgia as well as new car savvy.
So let's have a little fun before we spill the beans...
WHAT ENGINE do you car nuts think should go into the next Bullitt?
Where should it be placed in the lineup of Shelby and Ford offerings?
What if this engine were to appear in a GT350 after 1 year's limited edition of Bullitt cars?
Hmmm...
guionM - you got any beans to spill about this "new" motor?
Would y'all believe it's still a 4.6 derivative...

I'd guess the blown 4.6 from the last Cobra.
WARNING: If that's the case, and the price is right, it's going to be hard not jumping ship.

When the Bullitt came out, I thought it was one of the sharpest looking cars out there. The spoiler delete, those gorgeous 17" wheels, just all the cosmetic mods - interior and exterior, made it so cool.
I hope the next one is just as impressive.
The big question for me on engines is, will it be Mod motor or Hurricane/Boss?

For the unintiated, the "Cammer" has magnesium intake manifold, race version 4 valve heads, and larger bore cylinder sleeves. It's won numerous Grand Am races, and won in it's class in the 24 hours of Daytona.
Ford hinted at using the engine in a future Mustang, and then the whole subject just dropped from the radar screen. After all the races it's been in, it's certainly proved it's durability.

All I have to say is .
Besides, at one point, they said they'd never make another Dark Highland Green Mustang. Wonder how that's going to work out.
