3) Bias-Ply Tires - Who needs radials?
4) Solid Front Bench seat - Guess we can snuggle up close to our honey now and see what she can do with that Long Throw shifter!

Point being - Technology is constantly improving and people are becoming more innovative. Let's not look at some new ideas so blindly.

People thought fuel injection was the end of the world when IT first came out.
Actually, since progress is so wonderful, why don't we scrap the v-8 coupe and let everyone drive a hopped up 4 cylinder.

Yes , some aspects of the musclecar are going to have changed.Emissions, gas mileage, have all become constraints that the muscle car has to live with.
In terms of handling and overall quality, that has been a good thing. However, one thing it should not be is all cars to all people.
It is a specific subset of the market, and yes, I would rather it die then carry on neutered, bastardized and disgraced.
And FWIW I have both the financial means and desire to buy one of the "New Coupes", I really hope GM doesn't **** them up, at 35 I have a fair amount of car buying ahead of me.

What's the idea with these new lighter ones? Two tons gives you "presence", less gives you no respect. Plus my buddy told me more wieght gives you more taction and better handling. Where's the velour interior and spoked hubcaps? WHERE!!!! If GM were smart, they'd come out with a 2 ton, 2 door Monte Carlo, with velour seats and spoked hubcaps....and if it came with an LS7 and auto (haven't learned to drive stick yet)....and sold it for $18,000......I'd buy one.....ummm...used. That is after I graduate HS and get a job. Either that or I'll get my sister's Tercel.

If anyone from GM is reading this:

1) I think you guys are morons.
2) I'd like a job as a product planner.

[/sarcasm]

Don't hold your breathe for any new variants of the Monte Carlo, Darth.

On the other hand, there are people within GM, that want to see a next gen GTO, and are struggling to create a business case. Let's give them some lattitude.
AS long as it doesn't have 4 doors, I am cool with a new makeover. They put 4 doors on it, I don't wan't it to make a business case, kill the car after 2006.

A quad would make it neutered and disgraced? I could see if they made it look like a pink clown car with flower print on the seats...........You are very hostile regarding something you have no idea about how it would turn out.

Do you promise to buy a current 2 door GTO?

If not..............

The current paradigm won't bring a new goat for Pontiac.

I am very hostile towards making the last remaining musclecar a quad coupe, You bet! DCX has already destroyed the Charger name. Ford at least has the sense to not destroy the heritage of their one REMAINING iconic car.

They wanna make a quad coupe sporty car? Then how about they develop a whole Tempest/Lemans line, then they could have a 4 door sedan, quad coupe and a GTO option for a true coupe. Share production and basic mechanicals, give Pontiac a full line based on this chasis. I am all over that, hell a Tempest sedan or quad coupe might even be inline to replace the Grand Prix eventually.

I understand that the car is not out, and it may not be a quad coupe. However, since insiders do look at this site, I feel it is imperative that I make MY OPINION heard.

Heres one way to look at it.
A muscle car is for when you want to go out and flex some muscle.
As in...use your muscle to open the door.
Your friends can use their muscles to get in the back seat.
You cant flex your muscle with babies(adult kind included) in the back seat. When said babies are in the car, its called a family/sport sedan.
This is why quad door and four door cars cant seriously be called muscle cars.

I do... and did.

...also, remember, there are no more "bad sales issues" with GTO.... it's selling above projection without having any incentives on the 05 model ever except for being included in the 1st third of the employee pricing...

I promise that the next car purchase could be as soon as 2006 (CY), that it will be a 3rd car( should be able to pay off the 2002 F150 by then) and that short of the Camaro being available as a 2007 MY the GTO is it.

Yeah, Ford did not destroy the heritage, they zeroxed it.

and

The Charger seems to be doing pretty well for a musclecar w/a destroyed name. Just sitting on the lots, not selling...

If you want the GTO or Camaro to never change, buy one now and keep it forever.

Yeah cause my kids hate it when I hit the gas and it pushes them back in the seat.

Hmm, for the Charger doing so well, it's kind of odd how long the same three have been at the Dodge dealership where I live. I have seen 4 Chargers on the road so far here in Denver. Yep, looks like a runaway hit. Wonder how many of those total sales are fleet 2.7?

The car can and should change. What shouldn't change is the basic premise. 2 DOORS,longhood, short deck big v-8 manual transmission available.

Look at the post from last week I think on the hemi rate in chargers. They arnt all fleet baby. You must live in a small town, the dealers around here have to mark up on just keep it on the lot for a demo.

Is that really the basic premise for a GTO? Sounds alot like a Camaro/Mustang.
