Re: '08 GTO news....with pic!

I would expect it to look better than that... that's just a photoshopped 04/05 GTO.

I think the design elements shown are pretty nice.... and, even in the article, it says:

"We say “fairly close” because we’ve seen the super-secret spy photos upon which it is based, and the actual shots show a sleeker, wider, lower and, frankly, far more appealing car."
I also wonder how GM feels about Autoweek supposedly "showing close to what they were shown"... I thought the press who got to see the new cars had to agree not to disclose what they look like?? Although they say something about "super secret spy photos"...

This one has similar details to the Motor Trend sketch that was posted not too long ago. Applying those details to a current GTO makes the car look disproportionate and just plain wrong, and they're admitting it in the quote that Darth posted. Suffice to say, I don't think we'll hear too many complaints about the GTO's styling once the new one comes out.

The middle part of the nose that splits the grille is fugly

Thank goodness it's only an artist's rendition.

I think the styling would translate well on a real production car. And RX8 type rear doors probably wouldn't turn me off from buying one - as long as there were 3 seatbelts in back.

Looks to be very similar to the yellow GTO to appear as a sketch in MotorTrend a while back:

I'd like to see these spy pics they're referencing. These renderings aren't overwhelmingly great.

I've been saying for some time that a "Quad-coupe" rear door setup would work great on a future Monte Carlo...

I'm not so sure about a GTO though....

Hmmmmmmm....

Don't look at the whole car. Just look at the nose.

OK, I've thought this over, and I just can't choke down the idea of 4 doors (of any kind) on a GTO....

I still think it's a great idea for Monte Carlo though.

Re: '08 GTO news....with pic!

I'm glad say can say the real car looks better because they've seen it.

IMO this photochopped pic shows a car going a a good direction. the "bulging vein" (hey it's early, someone can come up with a better name ) running from the nose up over the hood is a pretty strong heritage feature from the '68 to '72 Goats, as well as the elongated headlight pockets.

I think rear 3/4 doors could work on a larger, grand tourer coupe like this (although IMO it adds unessesary cutlines that muck up the lines of the car, which is what a coupe should be about in the first place).

If someone's feeling adventurous (maybe me), I'd like to see a third light added to the next to the headlights. I think it could be a cool styling feature to differentiate the car (much like the old 6000s in the early '80s). Or it could look like that Alfa concept.

I don't know, maybe a quad coupe GTO would be more in keeping with a modern interpretation of what GTO really was.
