Neons

I'm thinking about setting up a neon kit for my car, inside and possibly underbody. Anybody have neons on their T/A's or Camaros? If so, where do you have them mounted? What size tubes? Anybody know of any good quality neon kits for our cars? I don't really want to get one on ebay, but if someone has had a positive experience with those kits on there, let me know Thanks!

This type of question should be posted in the appearance section. I'm not sure about for our cars or not but i know Street Glow makes some quality stuff.

I had neons in my 94 V6 camaro. I bought some LiteGlow neons off ebay, and it turned out to be a good kit. The dealer even replaced a broken tube for free (unusual for most ebay sellers). All the tubes are the same size I think (except for differences between brands), I think the Street Glow Golds Series are bigger than the others though. As far as mounting goes, I mounted mine were subframe connectors usually go (the BMR ones). If you look under the car, right by the door there is a "hollow" groove that runs up the sides. For the front, I mounted it behind the airdam, and in the back I think I mounted it either in front of or behind the muffler (just make sure they won't touch. Really easy to install though, all the wires run into a central "box". From that box just one wire hooks to power. Then you just run the switch through the firewall and into the interior. Ebay sells really good kits though, and cheap (just check for good seller feedback).
I hope this helps, it's been a few years since I've done this. Oh yeah, whatever you do, put the switch somewhere where you won't accidently hit it. I left mine on overnight (8hr. midnight shift) and they burnt out.

Sounds like a pretty good kit! How much did that run? Did you install it yourself? I don't think I would be able to install it myself lol, maybe with a friend I could. Thanks for the info!

I think I got it for right around $70, maybe $90 shipped I think (don't quote me). I'd say they're cheaper now though (this was during the neon "craze"). Still much cheaper than the $140 it would have cost me anywhere else. The install is really easy though. But it would help to have a friend. The hardest part was running the wire from the bottom of the car to the engine bay ( I ran it through the fenders I think . Be careful with the plastic brackets you hang the tubes with though, I broke all kinds of them trying to pop the tubes in. It turned out to look really good. But please install them so the tubes don't show, it makes it look SOOOOOOOOO tacky. I'd also check with the cops. I know some places are touchy about neon lights on cars (apparently it's a hazard ). What color is your car/ what color you going with? Some colors you can get cheaper than others too ( I guess some are less desirable?).

I'm looking at purple black lights. My car is purple and this seems to be the only logical color choice. Pics of my car at

Do you think LED's would look better/brighter?

I have a brand new set of purple neons in the box. It has 2-36 inch and 2 24 inch neon tubes, comes with all the clamps, switch and transformer. They cost 2 bills, make me an offer? They will look awesome on your car, my hawk is silver so I think purple might not match.
