Neons, LED's, hood scoops and INPUT!

Ok, so when I get my Z28 I plan to chuck away the stock hood and will probably go with either a RAM air II or the stock SS. Either way, I thought I would throw in some Neon or LED's into the scoop areas. I can figure the mechanics ok but does anyone have a pic of the Ram air II and or any other scooped hood with LED's or neon? ( it would of course be best if it was dark with the LED's or Neons on.....HE HE...um..ok...anyways) I searched the threads and couldnt find any pics. I figure I'll get the hood and then decide what (if any) glowy / lighty / shiny thingies to put in the scoops.

Pictures woudl be nice, preferably on a black 98-02 LS1 Camaro or WS6 T/A...but any examples will be a good guide..

Thanks

P.S...any police issues with this glowing hood scoop deal?

I wouldnt say dont do it, as I think it'll just look a little, well, dumb and ricey, but it's your car, do as you wish.

You will most likely encounter some sort of police issue on it. In NY they'll tell you "no aux. lights on your car, show use only." and that's that. Then they hand you a ticket. So I dont really see the point. One ws6 transam has red LEDs with the nitrous purge sticking out, now that looks cool, sure, but not that impressive. Unique. I would say dont do neons or lights. Even if it dosent get you a ticket, last thing you want is a cop to see some funny colored (stick out like a sore thumb) lights in your hood when his radar gun says you're speeding. Thats one thing I never got with ricers. They stand out so badly that you cant help but notice, no matter if you're paying attention or not.

Well, you guys can say what you want.... but I have it on my WS-6, and I get more compliments on that then most people get on their cars. I have a 3rd Brake light from a Nissan that my brother had stashed (He's a Body Man), and it fits perfect into my hood. I don't have any pictures of it, but I will tell you that it makes the front end of my car look totally sick at nite. Especially since the LEDs are bright, and it lights up the entire Nostral, plus the part of the hood infront of it.

And the NY thing... I've been stopped at nite, with it on.. and the cop was more pissy about my license plate being on my air-damn then the red LEDs in the hood. But is it illegal.. yes, especially Red... like I have...

Also about it sticking out like a sore thumb... well my car is already Arrest-Me-Red... so the Red LEDs in the Hood just look exactly like it should be there. Especially on a WS-6 Car.

But hey, Everyone has something on their car that other people don't like....

If you insist on doing this...PLEASE don't do those stupid little LED lights... they look FUGLY.

If you did the neon tastefully... that has potential...

Thanks guys, I'll probably wait untill I get the hood and get more of a " feel" for the car's look before going ahead with any extra lights.

And for those overly concerned with my age, Im older than you might think and where as I choose to write a post in a light hearted way- not taking things too seriously, if you prefer, I'll be happy to write you a formal thesis on the subject complete with profound feats of grammatical excellence and a plethora of high caliber words so as to appease you in your apparent, yet somewhat unwarrented, need for a properly written post -fit your reading pleasure. On the other hand you could simply refrain from cluttering a thread with irrelevant subject matter and keep your literary critiques for a more appropriate forum.

Kind regards,

I've always liked the look of neons coming out the ram air hoods. The trick is to make it so you can't see the neon tube. Mount it up high enough so only the glow can be seen.

here is an idea....

kmart sells this neon tape light. it is very bright and wont interfere with your air flow going to the motor. its just as thick as a piece of tape. you just run power and negative wires to it and there you go. you could put it on the top inner wall of the ram air inlets and it would look totally sick

o ya when you do what you do get a pic of it and lets see it

OMG!!!! Thats amazing!!! HEY!! what if I just coated the whole car in the stuff and became a big neon rolly thing!! I could even crotchet a jump suit out of it to match the car!!! Boy that would be slick!!! I'd be stylin'

So to reality.....

I think not, but if Kmart does sell such a tape I can think of many non car uses for it... ( a 1/8th scale garage to go with the Big-T needs a neon sign or two for example)

Yeah... coat your whole car in it! That'd be cool just for kicks.

It could serve as an electrical shock device to any would be thieves too! Kinda like how we use to hookup the positve cable to the body shell's back in the day... cheap alarm system... all that is needed is a human being screaming in pain as the alarm.
