Could be worse....like in the early 80's where speedos only went to 80 or 85mph .

As far as the speedo & tach lay-out.....come on now, are people really going to start whining about that now too ?

Like someone pointed out earlier in the thread I dont think this is the case. Being theres only one set of numbers, switching between mph and km/h will change how the actual speedometer behaves. So if you're in mph conversion, your speedo 160 will be 160mph. Km/h it will be 160 km/h.

Besides, at those kinda speeds, you should be on a track, and at that point the tachometer is the main gauge to worry about not the speedo

nope---the numbers completely disappear--not just the MPH---new number appear--higher in km/h.

So for example--150MPH on the speedo---flick the switch to Km/h--and it would say 240

I bet thats the case on cars built in Germany. Maybe they can get away with it, having one speed measurement--even if its shipped to the US or Canada--just cause its built outside of the US....? Maybe

Ahaha...this is funny cause when I fist picked up my Maxx, my father looked at the speedo and said "140? Why does this thing have a speedo to 140?"
I didnt figure out why till I found the MPH/KmH switch in the DIC, then I could do 140. There is a little light on the dash that tells you what mode, but it also switches EVERYTHING over to metric...kinda cool.

Dont fear canucks.

The 2004+ Grand Prix had the same thing for years.
1 set of numbers with a MPH or Km/H lit on the dash

I don't see a picture in which I would expect said lever(s) to be visible.

I'm betting that it has a manual tilt-telescope with a single lever. Release it with the lever, move the wheel where you want it, and then lock it down. Nice system, easy to use. Same as the G8.

When you get in an accident because that position affords you approximately zero control over the car, enjoy your dislocated shoulder and shattered elbow.

I believe we're talking about current vehicles, which are required to uphold a more stringent safety standard.

Our 2000 Bonneville has this too. It's pretty cool. There's a little button on the dash labeled "E/M" (English/Metric). It toggles the speedo, odometer, and trip odometer.

It's fun to secretly push the button while my wife is driving on the highway. Then she looks down and suddenly thinks she's doing 110mph.

That would mean a full digital dash, and that would be frickin' sweet. I really, really doubt that, though.

The Edmunds article has estimates of 15/23 for the V8 and 18/27 for the V6 (these appear to have been quoted to them by Al Oppenheiser, so I'd assume that they're fairly official...)

That's easy for you to say. Your V6 has a higher speedometer (200 kmh) than my 94 Z28 does (180 kmh)

No. My old boss wound up paying a couple thousand to get his US Mercedes brought into Canada due to the speedometer issue. Importing vehicles into either the US or Canada can be quite expensive. Lots of cars can't be brought into Canada due to bumper regulations. New Corvettes for example. VW GTI's can't be brought in either.

I suspect the new Camaro will be like the new Corvettes. Where the speedometer will be 200 mph and 200 kmh in the US or 300 mph and 300 kmh in Canada....But that picture of the interior only shows 160.

I wonder what Debler's take on the speedometer is?

The G8 is rated at 15/24 with considerably less power and a milder gear. The much lighter and less powerful Mustang gets 15/22 with an auto. The lighter automatic Corvette gets 15/25.

By the current EPA ratings an automatic LT1 is 15/23 and an auto LS1 16/23.
