Y'know the few spy shots of the MCE Mustang's interior have the same basic configiuration for the registers and the way the dash rolls back toward the windshield?????

Okay, so this Camaro is about 700lbs heavier than the First gen it's trying to emulate. Yeah, it's a beast. But think how many more safety features, luxury options etc. the new Camaro has to lug around that the old one didn't.

All I'm trying to say is if you hate that it weighs so much, nobody is holding a gun to your head saying you gotta buy it. More cars left for the rest of us.

Thumbs up Lovin' it

WOW.

One thing: Don't see tilt/telescoping levers...really important for bigger (ok fat) guys like me to get a good seat position and still be able to steer.

Something seems a little off with the numbers from that site. The '69 396 SS is listed with a weight of 3,790 lbs, a whopping 25lbs more than the Z28. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought the big block added ~100-125lbs on its own, plus an SS was a higher optioned car than the Z28.

That is with the dual quad/cross ram , but even if you take the lower weight posted, means a less than a 400lb increase.

Well, I don't blame GM for wanting to make a buck. There will be those who want a no frills Camaro and there will be those who want a specced up Camaro.

Me, I want a V8, no frills Camaro because nothing else will do.

Car looks stunning. The weight thing is kind of a bummer, but not a huge deal seeing some of the performance numbers listed. I think one test drive may erase the weight concern for most people.

All the articles seem to be glowing about the car, which is great. And even though Mustang does have a refresh coming up, man Edmunds is beating it up in comparisons.

I love this quote from MotorTrend:

"Is all this enough to take out the original retro musclecar and the Challenger from Dodge? Says Oppenheiser, "[Dodge] wanted to be first to the street in this pony war you guys are creating, and I think they're suffering from it." As for the Mustang, he's equally blunt. "We understand their strategy-a Mustang for every buyer. We're not taking that strategy. We've had their whole range on certain rides with us and evaluated all of them. I'm not worried." Fighting words, indeed."

Nice to see the competitive fuel burning hot on the new Camaro team

Because weight is bad for each and every aspect of performance, maybe?
Not to mention fuel economy, which (as anyone with half a brain could have seen coming) is suddenly very important again, and will remain so to the end of the petroleum age.

I'm sure a lot of folks thought the same thing in 1973 and 1979 too. But our world is a lot more dynamic than that. Fact is - the world still has plenty of oil. Once supplies get straightened out (eg, drilling here in the US) oil will be cheaper - and America's 100-year love affair with the automobile can continue as God intended

I can understand people are a little unhappy with the weight of the car, but just think how much GM tried to reduce the weight on the vehicle. Look, with all the standards and regulations, its those aspects that make the weight so much. Give it a chance my friends, maybe once driving a camaro may change your mind. Who knows, maybe the information is wrong and will be corrected on Monday.

So far the best guess is that he was talking about the key fob thingy, but I'm starting to wonder if it isn't this mysterious hump in the dash at the top of the wheel. I'm hoping it's a HUD projector.

As much as I also want the HUD, I believe what you have circled there is just the dash forming around the tach.

Isn't that just the slope of the tach housing?
