G8 coupe engine line-up same as Camaro?
They cant just keep upping the displacement like they have been for the last few years that's great for hp but not for mpg. If you take all the clues that you have been given since production was announced the only way they could meet their hp and mpg goals with a V-8 is with a smaller direct injection AFM VVT engine.
why only 1 v8? if its completely ok/cost effective/profitable to run two in the G8, why exactly wouldnt it on the Camaro? The mustang has run 2 v8's for a long time now, and look how successful that has been. They even ran 3 different v8's for a while.

GM NA: We want to offer the LS3 as an option in the G8 for North America.
GM AU: Only if we can do the same in the Holden down undah mate.
GM NA: Sure!

For the Camaro, I see only one V8 (LS3) in the first MY (SS), and a limited edition supercharged version of said engine (LS8?) in the Z28 a little further down the road.
I agree 100%
Are you forgetting the G8 is built in Australia where the L76 is readily available? It was the primary engine in the Holden version the G8 is based off of. I can actually see the conversation behind closed doors going something like this...

From info gatherd in this thread alone we know that Holden has moved on from the L76 to L98. LS3 will be phased into Holden vehicles but is the GM NA performance engine. The Camaro is a performance oriented NA car. The G8 is a 4 door sedan. One built is Australia and one to be built in Canada. Both on Zeta but that's about it. You want the Camaro to have more than one V8 engine. It will LS3 and the whatever engine that will be in the top model. Odds are the Z/28 will probably rise over the SS in cost and performance.
You say GM should have an engine lineup like Ford does. Unless I'm missing something they only have two v8's offered, 3v 4.6L in the GT and the 4v 5.4L in the GT500. How would that be different than what the Camaro would have?

There is nothing premium about the LS3 in an of itself.
The only reason the G8 has the L76/L98 is because of Holden and it's ties to the Commadore. IF it were to be built by GM NA it would only have the 3.6L v6 and LS3 like another 2+2 Coupe we're anticipating next year....
Again you need to differentiate the G8 from Holden of Australia and the Camaro from Chevrolet NA. They share only their basic Zeta roots.

Give up... he just doesn't get it.
