I'll be lucky to afford the base V8, but I'll still be happy to get it if I do. I really don't need the top dog model. Plus the older I get and the way things are going, I'm getting more thoughtful of gas mileage (and alternative forms of power).

First, I prob. would not purchase a Z/28 if the only major difference was a supercharged 8. That can be done with a SS + buy your own = cheaper.

Second question, if the SS is 30K, I would not pay more than 35G for the SS. Any more, then Im getting a used vette.

Third question: Im willing to wait 3 years... it seems ive done this long already.

Personally I think Z28 looks cleaner, but I really don't care either way.
While the option for it was RPO Z28, it was being called the Z/28 model from early on in the '67 mid model year introduction. The Z/28 emblems on the front fenders formalized the model name in March of 1968 on 1968 models, even some of the Chevy print ads for the '68 model called it Z/28. The front grill emblem and rear panel emblem below the trunk lid were added for the '69 model year in addition to the front fender emblems.

More than likely there will be some cosmetic changes as well as brake and suspension upgrades to go along with the SC engine...I hope

1. Do you still want to purchase a “Z28” version if the only major difference will be a supercharged V8 pushing 500+hp?

2. How much would you be willing to pay over the “SS”?

3. How long will you be willing to wait?

Discuss.
1. I want an SS version mainly cuz I had an SS as my patrol car

2. What ever it takes to get one

3. I've waited this long...I think I can wait a little longer

I guess, though...if you could do the same power for less cost, that would be even better.

Really though, in a very innocent way, I just want an SS or Z28 moniker.
Maybe the concern from GM is that you have the V6, and then the next stop is 100-150 hp higher. Can a 400+ hp Camaro maintain high sales volume (like 30-40K, year after year), in this new environment we're living in?

I don't have that answer. But I don't think that it would put a slightly cheaper, less powerful Mustang GT out of business.

Maybe in the end, GM will decide that they'd rather stimulate the opposite end of this market.

You mean the possible I4, and V6 crowd? I think that would be a brilliant idea. (Aren't they already planning on doing that, though? "Not marketing it as a Muscle Car, etc")

Like I said before. If it can beat the Mustang in price, and stay at least on par with it in performance, I'd go ahead and put a "weaker" 8 in. I'd probably get that one instead of the SS, though. As I can see many others doing. Which means the SS won't be the highest selling V8. If that is a genuine concern...don't do it.

No, I wouldn't wait if the only difference was a Supercharger, especially if one could be had way cheaper in the Aftermarket.
500hp? Not for the price most want to pay, south of $35K.

I'd settle for a great foundation, which seems to be what we'll be getting at least for now.

Clyde, you're right. Senior moment. The early second gens were Z-28. My bad.
