Well its origin is RPO Z28. Originally it was Z-28 before switching to Z/28 in 1969. Later years were just Z28.

Personally I think Z28 looks cleaner, but I really don't care either way.

I do agree that the GT500 should not be a focal point. There does need to be a model to combat it, but it should be the deciding factor for the rest of the lineup.

Off-topic, the distinction between Z/28 and Z28 - which one is GM going with?
Just guessing, but I bet most will be well optioned. I can't remember the last $25K Mustang GT I saw at the dealer, most are in the $29K range or so.

Z/28 or Z28? Who knows. I always use the slash though.

So if they didn't exactly post it or announce it, what was there to miss? A bunch of guys spreading rumors with nothing concrete to back them up?

From what I understand, especially on the truck side of things, the AFM does very little to improve fuel economy and on the trucks quite a few people have had it "turned off."

Is it going to be only autos available at launch that seems to be the trend lately??? Unless its an A6, then neither tranny will be available at launch

I haven't said it for a while, but I suspect Chevy just might surprise the hell out of us (and blindside its competitors) by coming out also with the 500+hp version in the first year.

A few things that fuel my conspiracy theory:

Ed Peper interview:
https://www.camaroz28.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=539244

And a post by Scott S. a couple of months ago:
https://www.camaroz28.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=580686
In addition to his first, look at post #8 for his " it was a V8..............................." comment.

And also, unless things have changed since this came out: https://www.camaroz28.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=551143 ....looks to me like GM will have a motor to meet the 500+hp mark. It would just be a matter of POSSIBLY beefing up the drive train to handle the extra power.

The few times I've brought this up, no one "in the know" has has come out and said "not gonna happen".

Your belated attempt at misinformation won't work .

It may only be wishful thinking on my part, but I still have a suspicion.

LSA or LS8? Will there be a LS8, and if so any idea what the difference will be?

For the record, I am waiting for the 2011 Z28, and I expect to pay GT500 kind of money.

It's supposed to be the LS8. I don't know what the difference between the LSA and the LS8 is, though.

If that ends up being true...(though, looking at the G8, I find it hard to concieve of. That car maxes out at 34 grand)...anyways, if that's true, I'll be a bit upset. I'm not one for a fully optioned-out car, but - you see my point, I think.

I really see no reason to compete on the same ground, i.e. drop performance down to the GT's level if GM can do more for about the same price. (400hp for 28k).

I guess, though...if you could do the same power for less cost, that would be even better.

Really though, in a very innocent way, I just want an SS or Z28 moniker.

4 grand over 30 is quite abit, wouldn't you say? Anyway, I couldn't imagine an SS starting at anything less than high 20's. And I can easily see a loaded SS convertible topping out in the 40K range.

That's what I've been assuming for a while now, and will continue to do so untill we normal folks () will figure out for sure later this year.

4k didn't seem like "well north", to me. I'd call 37k well north of 30, but
