rubbing

my 95 t/a has 17x9.5 vette rims with 275/40/17 tires. when i cut the wheel the all the way the tires rub the front of the fender liner. anyone else have this problem and what did you do? i can push the liner in some and it wont touch but keeping it pushed in is the problem. i dont understand since ive got stock sizing.

There are two different 17x9.5" ZR1 wheels. 56mm is the one you want. The 37.5mm wheels will stick out past the front fender and may rub, as you have discovered.

What Z06 wheels are you using? Many of the factory wheels have excessive offsets that put the wheel deep in the wheel well on an F-Body.

i suggest doing some research prior to purchasing stuff like that.

even if they "tech guy" says it will fit.

would have saved you some trouble

and why do zr1s come in 2 offsets?
The ZR1's come in two different offsets because they were used on two different Corvettes. The original ZR1 wheels had the smaller offsets, meaning they stuck out further, but the ZR1 Corvette had wider bodywork/fenders than other C4's, to cover the tires. In 1996, they wanted to use the ZR1 wheels on the 1996 Grand Sport, but without the wider bodywork. So they increased the offset of the ZR1 wheels to tuck them under the stock C4 bodywork. Even with that, the rear ZR1/Grand Sport wheels stuck out far enough that they had top put a glue-on "eyebrow" on the rear fender to meet regulations regarding tire coverage.
