Re: Issues with new rims

The hubs on the rear are slightly larger than the ones on the front on the 93-96 model years. When you are putting "late" model wheels on an "early" model 4th Gen, it is common for the oversize rear hubs to cause an interference. The usual solution is to lightly sand (or grind) the inside diameter of the hole in the wheel so that it slips freely over the rear hub. You might want to do all 4 wheels, so that you can "rotate" them in the future.

It is a bit unusual for the problem to surface when you are putting 1994 wheels (25th Anniv. T/A) on a 93 though. Where did you buy the wheels?

bought the rims from a company in massacusettes... rimpro, the rims are just reconditioned but still nice... and i dont understand why they arent fitting... now i know due to the rearhub, but thats a valid point that the 1994 rims shouldnt be a problem to fit on my bird

Re: Issues with new rims

rims off of a 94 will fit a 93. i don't believe they changed the hub size 96. i picked up some 10 spoke SS's from a guy who had them on his 96 Z. they would not fit my rear hub. i had about 5 minutes per wheel with a half moon rasp to make the hole in the rim bigger. it has a visible ledge on the inside of the wheel that needs to be taken off. it's probably a 1/32-1/16" that needs filed off. i started with a file, but found that a rasp was much more effective, and used the file to make a final cleaning. when done, it should be flat with the rest of the inside of the hole. it's pretty simple.
