275/40ZR17 up front ok?

I have a set of wheels on my Z/28 from a '02 Corvette Z06. It currently has the stock tire sizes of Front: 265/40R17 and Rear: 295/35R18. I have no issues with rub or anything like that. The problem is 265/40R17 tires are hard to find unless you want to pay a lot. 275/40R17 is a lot more common and much cheaper.

Can I run 275/40R17 on the wheels and not have a problem with them rubbing something up front?

Re: 275/40ZR17 up front ok?

The source I checked shows the stock front wheels for a 2002 Z06 as 17x9.5" 54mm offset. I've run that size wheel and a 275/40-17 with offsets ranging from 49mm to 56mm, and no problems. The SS and WS6 have no problems with their 17x9.0" 50mm offset, and the stock 275/40-17 tires. You would be adding most of the extra width on the inside edge compared to those.

I was finally able to get the Continental tires mounted. I went with the Extreme Contact DW tires. They ride soooo nice compared the 8 yr old Firestones. 275s up front and 295s in the back.

Re: 275/40ZR17 up front ok?

For reference sake, I just bought some replica Z06 rims/tires for my 1996 Z28 and they fit perfect.

- The tires are 275/40/17 as stated above. No issues with clearance or rubbing

- The rims are 17x9.5 with an offset of 54 and they fit perfectly. They don't stick out any further then the stock rims do. Again, no rubbing or clearance problem at all. They bolted right on and fit the car perfectly.

Having said that, they are replica rims that were made to fit Camaro's.
