235 vs 245

just wondering if there's really that much of a difference in width....
my 94z28 came with 235/55/16s from the previous owner but i do know that the factory size was 245/50/16s....
the problem is that the tires are fairly new so i don't really know if i want to dispose of them just yet i've heard that some brands of 245s arent that much wider than 235s so it sounds like it depends what brands im comparing right?......plz let me know
thanks in advance

Its about 1 cm or 2/5 of an inch however you want to look at it. 245s dont get traction, either, so I sure wouldn't get rid of a new set of tires cause they were 1 cm narrower.

PLEASE post in the correct forum. This is LT1 Based ENGINE Tech, for engine related questions, not about tires. We have a "Wheels and Tires" forum.... I'll move it there for you.

I doubt you're going to see much of a difference in the width...the brand/style of tire would make a bigger difference. So with this economy, just leave the 235s on there and replace with 245s and better tire.

What brand/model 235s are there?

Also, 235/55-R16 is a factory size tire. I'm the 2nd owner of mine, but it came out of factory with 235s.

The "base" V8's came with 235/55-16 "all season". If the car got the Z-rated tire option (RPO QLC) it had 245/50-16 "summer performance" tires.
