Knocking From Valve Cover Area...

Hi Guys...

Let me tell ya my most recent story...and hopefully you could give a little advice...

I just had a complete maintenance package performed on my '95 Z....
Opti, Plugs, Plug wires, Coil, Electric Water pump, Intake gaskets, valve gaskets, etc....

Got her back on Sat....run very strong...even put the z on the dyno...I was expecting 235 - 245 hp at the rear wheels...it's basically stock...However, I pushed out a 260 rwhp @ 5000 rpm on the first pull...and then a 265 rwhp @ 5000 rpm on the 2nd pull....

The tune up really put some pep in the stock Z...and I couldn't see any oil leaking out from anywhere...

However, this morning I noticed a knocking coming from under the hood...popped the hood and it sounds as if it's coming from the valve (valve cover) area...

It's pretty bad....especially when the accelerator is pressed...

Anyone got any IDEAS to what my problem is...I'm taking it back to the shop this evening for diagnostics...

Thanks,
TDOG

I didn't do the work...Don't think the rockers should have been taken off...

Maybe should was hit or bumped...trash within...not sure...
Hopefully the shop that did the work will make good...

Any more thoughts....

Just be sure that you have oil pressure before you drive it (1) foot.

If ok, then get thee to the mech. and have them figure it out. Stand right there and watch them do the diagnosis so they won't come up with some story about it being something else.JMHO

Not really possible to diagnose over the 'net without a sound byte and still hard even with one.
