It sounds like an EGR valve code, or maybe an 02 sensor.

You can get the code read at any local dealer, or anyone that has a scan tool.

Even though the light isn't on, it still stores the code. I believe it's 25 ignition turns.

Anyway, have it checked.

any decent shop can check the code without going to the dealer for big $$ 40 to 60 bucks is fair for a scan.I believe a 94 is still the old ALDL under the dash that you can ground pin a to b and count the flashes of the check engine light to get the code.95 or 96 was the switch to OBD2

Not so.

Out of the 93-97 cars, only the 93 LT1's were able to ground pins...no v6 cars can do that.

Sounds like an EGR...mine did the same thing when it crapped out a few years back. It is a pretty pricey part but is very easy to replace.

I would suggest getting a OBD II reader though since it pays for itself in a few uses.

i bought the repair manual for the 94 camaro and it tells you how to clean it so im thinking of doing it and worst case i will have to change it but out of curiosity if thats the problem will that save me on gas??

also what type of exhaust do you guys recommend me to get to get a nice sound = )

ok i finally got the car back and operantly they cannot find anything wrong with the engine they hooked it up to the computer and there is no error codes and the mechanic told me that he cant get an error code if the light doesnt stay on all the time. but what i noticed is you can go as fast as you want and its fine but as you slow down the second it hits the 60 mph mark the like comes on so im starting to think that maybe its has something to do with the transmission down shifting maybe?? i really donno what to think about it... what do you guys think???

Mine does the same exact thing, anything over 50 and let off the gas and the light comes on. Resets when you restart. Its the EGR valve, Try keeping just a little bit on the gas when you slow down off the highway. just enough to keep it from dropping clear to idle. I've been driving mine this way for a long time, one of these days I'll replace the manifold with the broken egr bolt stuck in it and make the light go away so I can quit left-foot braking. Dont worry about the trans if everything else seems fine, this CEL has nothing to do with your trans.

Edit- This is on my 95 3.4
