I totally agree.

I never said the 3.4L was a bad engine. I simply stated the HP fact and my opinion that if a 3.4L and 3.8L were priced closely and both in good condition, he should go with the 3.8L.

Those who talked badly about the 3.4L did so when this post was located in one of the V8 boards.

I like the fact that you give a 3.4 a set of gen 3 intake, heads and pistons gives it more power than the 3.8, and thats with the same lame 25 year old cam profile

do yourself a favour, look around for a small while, check out a couple different models, drivetrains etc. be it camaro, firebird, 5 spd, auto, 3.4L, 3.8L, see whats in the market

and, please, please, don't compare it to the mustang, ALL of these cars feel amazing compared to the 2.3L, but thats just life...

DON'T rush into anything... and make sure u get it checked out first, you dont want a lemon.. nor do u want to buy from a stealership, thats just throwing away money... (look at auctions locally?)

3.4L is a good car... BUT talk to us when it gets to the money dealing just don't buy it...

I hae seen 3.4Ls selling for $5k at some dealerships, for that kind of money you can get a newer v6 with possibly less miles, like a 96 or 97 and even sometimes up has high as the 98+s

Whatever you get, 3.4L or 3.8L I HIGHLY suggest a 5-speed, unless you plan to go all out and build a race v6 motor, then get an auto.

The 5-speed you can control your gas mileage and hp better.

3.4L is a great car very reliable in my opinion, I put mine through hells some people cannot even imagine, and it lasted great, but if the guy is asking to much money you can find newer cars with less mileage. Biggest downfall of the 3.4L v6 is... it was offered 93-95(most 95s), which automatically makes the newest one roughly a decade old, and with that bound to be higher mileage.

<---has owned a 94 3.4L v6 camaro, owned a 2.8L(similar motor) v6 Camaro and now owns a '00 3.8L v6 camaro.
