Window and door locks both not working

Hi. On my 1993 the door locks and the windows do not work. I checked the fuses and they look fine. Any other suggestions? And are these both controlled by same "circuit" ? Thank you

Re: Window and door locks both not working

The windows receive power through a 35-amp circuit breaker #15 in the end of dash fuse panel. It's not a fuse, although someone may have substituted a fuse.

The power door locks receive their power through a 15-amp #7 fuse in the same panel.

The points of commonality are connector C200 (between steering column and left kick panel/A-pillar. and grommet P500 (wire pass through between A-pillar and drivers door)

PS:

Does the radio work? The radio, power windows, door locks, and cig lighter/horn fuses/breaker all receive power through the Retained Accessory Power (RAP) module.

Hi Fred. Yes the radio works perfect as well as the horn. Maybe I should just remove the door panel could be q simple fix if the wires unplugged.

How do I bench test the master switch on the drivers side?

Not sure what you mean by "master switch".

Might want to download the wiring diagrams, as part of the 1993 factory manual:

http://www.firebirdnation.com/forums...2-wiring-diag/

Shoebox has the 95 diagrams, which appear similar, but may have subtle differences.

By master switch I just meant it's the combined door lock and window switches. When I looked for a new one they called it a master switch

Don't overlook the common body ground connection that is behind the driver side kick panel. There should be multiple wires at that stud. Maybe they are loose or one is broken.

Checked wires behind panel all seem to be connected well. I removed the window switche cleaned it and put back. Drivers side doesn't work at all but the passenger side lowered ever so slightly and stopped. Are the motors dead than? And it's not the wiring? My side mirrors work too

I'm going to replace the switch see what happens. Also if I replace the window motor do I need to replace the regulator also ?

No. You will probably have to drill out the motor's rivets though. Search for the procedure in shbox.com that allows you to remove the motor without removing the regulator. You drill access holes in the door inner panel to reach the motor mounting rivets. Be careful to not drill out the larger rivets for the regulator.

Power Window Motor

Do you mean the panel on the drivers side rear seat panel where the speaker is ? I had a bad ground chased down many moons ago and the mechanic said I had a bad ground(tail light I think) in that area.Cost me two hundred bones at the time.He didn't tell me where it was.Now I'm burned. Many thanks. It was a Firebird formula at that time.

Wow. Yea electrical issues are costly. I mean the drivers side front kick panel kind of under dash near feet. There's a ground there and a lot of wires for the car. Someone has definelty been in there before me so I will be going over that area very patiently
