Re: Walked a GTO on the freeway....

I like to take it right to redline....5900 or so....my limiter is a little funky and sometimes I can get over 6k, sometimes not. Peak hp is 5600 rpm.

Re: Walked a GTO on the freeway....

Heh, heh, old threads die hard, eh?

When it comes to different cars and what they CAN and CANNOT run, unless somebody comes in with some ridiculous claim (like a 12-second STOCK LT1) then I don't always need to "see" to "believe".

Most LS1's (whether that be an F-body or a GTO) "should" be ~13-second cars. High or low. My own LS1 has run "best times" of 13.02 to 14.1 on different days at the track. Same car, same mods, same track, different conditions. I've seen stock and modded LT1's run from 13.7 to 14.6, respectively.

On the streets, ANYTHING can happen (well, actually, anything can happen at the track too). I remember seeing a 405 HP Z06 run a 13.2. DRIVERS make ALL the difference in the world.

Most of my cars have been in the 11's so I don't get very excited over a 13.3.

There's no rocket science here though. If LS1 fbodies have gone as fast as 12.9, what's hard to believe about a GTO with the same powerplant going 13.1-13.3? You guys who haven't seen a fast one need to realize it's the driver's fault, not the car's. The 6 spds all dyno around 300 (mine put down 319 with just CAI and freebies), so we know the power is there; the rest is up to the driver.

very true, maybe the guys and girls that have them arent running them right. the other day i saw a gto on the freeway and the girl driving it barely knew what she was doing. she even missed a gear.

i was just wondering if you had any slips because ive never saw a gto run times like stated in this post. i wasnt doubting you just wanted to see with my own 2 eyes

Like I said, I didn't save the slip, and there's no way to reproduce it now Head over to LS1gto.com, I'm sure someone can help you.

I have a timeslip from my March 2004 run. 13.3@104. I will find it and post it.
