Walked a GTO on the freeway....
Re: Walked a GTO on the freeway....
LOl...I didn't bring this topic back up, nor did I bitch. I simply don't like someone calling my car, which is faster than theirs, GTSlow or over-rated. Sorry if you're p*ssy got hurt about it

<the LT1 has a lot flatter power band then the LS1. It makes closer to peak power longer through the power band then an LS1 does>
This is, of course, a myth. Take a look at the 2 links below. First one is a modded LT1, second one (scroll down the page a little) is a stock GTO. These demonstrate pretty clearly that not only does the LS1 produce more peak hp, it produces more power along every point of the graph and at no point does it appear the LT1 has any kind of advantage in powerband. Being the previous owner of 4 LT1 Corvettes, my experience backs up the dyno's.

A 2004 GTO has 350 horsepower at the flywheel, and weighs roughly 3700 lbs. A 4th gen LT1 car weighs roughly 3400 lbs, and has 275 horsepower stock. With mods listed you're looking at no more than 300 horsepower at the flywheel.
Even without the weight of the extra passengers, the GTO still has a better power to weight ratio.
See, you are doing what I like to call "dyno racing". That's why they run the race. I've seen so many instances where cars that put down 40-50 RWHP more than their competitor go down in a race. That's why they run the race and not compare dyno sheets. And besides, it's not all about peak power anyway. For example if you compare dyno sheets from an LS1 to an LT1 you will see that the LT1 has a lot flatter power band then the LS1. It makes closer to peak power longer through the power band then an LS1 does. Same goes for many other cars. I'm not ripping on LS1's , I just used that as an example. Once again, that's why they run the race.

If I see this right yellavette didn't bring this topic back up did he?
Re: Walked a GTO on the freeway....
How dare you try to introduce actual facts into this conversation!

So you need to ask yourself, could the GTO driver drive? A slow driver can give a car a bad name.
Wow, I guess in this magic world called "The Street" anything can happen.
I think someone has LS1 envy

Re: Walked a GTO on the freeway....
Damn it...you're right. I don't know what I was thinking defending my stupid over-rated GTslow. I can't even beat a stock Neon, let alone hope to hang with a lightly modded LT1. I don't have a clue how LS1 fbodies could possibly go high 12's with this POS engine. Must be an internet myth. Please forgive all my **** talking and don't beat me up...ok? Pretty please?
P.S- For future reference, you may be a touch psychotic.....might want to look into that.

I only wish you were a little closer so this could be settled the right way. At least then there would be some fact behind all the **** talking. I've said it before, I'm not a cocky person nor do I think my car is something great. It's arrogant bitches like you that **** me off. Come to Ohio and Ill show who how overrated these nuts are in your mouth

A bolt on lt1 will flat stomp a gto from a dig. Go cry about it.

do you, or have you ever seen a dyno chart on the two engines that shows off idle to 2800rmps? I havent, all i know is in the real world stock for stock the lt1 makes alot more power off idle.
Re: Walked a GTO on the freeway....
Now I know that LS1 GTOs are suppose to average mid to high 13's, but how is it that I've never seen one do so in person. Last time at the track there was 6 ls1 gtos and they could only get low to mid 14's while I had 13.9 for my slowest that night. Or last year when I ran against one that got a 14.4@98. I do see all over the threads where people will get even into the low 13's with their stock ls1 gtos so I guess that I'm just surrounded by the absolute drivers in america.

I guess a LT1 powered F-Body is better than anything else, considering it can be made faster than any stock production car.
Keep going, its fun seeing how clueless you really are.
Re: Walked a GTO on the freeway....
Those must be some pretty bad drivers. Check out ls1gto.com to see what they're running in competent hands. The power is there, just gotta learn how to put it down. I ran a 13.6@103 my very first run in the GTO (stock)...got that down to 13.3@105 a couple runs later. A GTO running 14.4@98 is just as strange as a late model Ls1 fbody running 14.4@98.
