This argument has gone on hundreds of times here and it's been shown that there's very little difference between the 2 engines in off idle torque. The Lt1 torque advantage is a myth. Look at the 2 dyno charts I posted before. Real world or not, dyno's don't lie.

Re: Walked a GTO on the freeway....

Well, seeing as I traded a bolt on 95 corvette (hence Yellavette) on my GTO, I might have a better frame of reference than you. My vette was a4 with shorties, intake, exhaust, gutted cats, flowmasters, roller rockers, and 3.73's. The best I got out of it was 13.58@104. Sure, with a couple more mods it'd beat the GTO, but anything can beat anything with enough money, so what's the point?

Thanks for the entertainment guys. GTO's are cool. F-body's are cool. I respect most fast cars, no matter what the drivers are like.

There was a guy at edge water with a GTO that was stock with a CAI and he was running 13.5 with a horrid 60 ft time. Like 2.3 or something. If he coulda got his 60's down to a 2.0 he may have ran a 13.0 or a 12.9.

That's a great et for the 60'. Any idea what he was trapping at? I had a 1.89 60' to get my 13.3....no power shifting though.

Man, I use to be a moderator on LS1.com (AOC SS), but after seeing how the owners mismanaged the money from the sponsorship, most of us mods and admins left the site. Eboggs kept the owners in line most of the times but he gave up on those sleeze bags.

sad to see it happen, but i guess its always best to do business with a hand shake and a smile. hope most of the sponsors got out unhurt , if not they will be more than likly to avoid other boards.

Re: Walked a GTO on the freeway....

Well, given that less than 11,000 04' GTO's were produced, I can't imagine you've seen very many run? Around here, they are almost as rare as a Viper....I hardly ever see one, and have never seen another one at the track. However, I don't save 13 sec. time slips. Most of my cars have been in the 11's so I don't get very excited over a 13.3.

There's no rocket science here though. If LS1 fbodies have gone as fast as 12.9, what's hard to believe about a GTO with the same powerplant going 13.1-13.3? You guys who haven't seen a fast one need to realize it's the driver's fault, not the car's. The 6 spds all dyno around 300 (mine put down 319 with just CAI and freebies), so we know the power is there; the rest is up to the driver.
