Good luck Steve! Should be a helluva race! Went to the races tonight and saw an '03 Cobra run a 12.11 @116 or 117!
Man those things can move. I think he was modded a little but damn he was quick.

Full exhaust, gears, and some springs an your mid 12's @105-an up in a GT, and that's not 'ALL' of the bolt ons.
Get a clue.
FWIW, im not wanting to start a flame war or anything, because modded vs stock is stupid, but, Antz, get a clue before you talk like a fool.
I raced 2 different GT's with the exact same mods: Exhauset (no headers), intake, gears, and springs. One ran 13.7 the other 13.6 at the track. Both were 99+ GT's. If I ever see a GT with the same mods and headers running mid-12's, I'll...well, it won't ever happen. I could see a Mach 1 with these mods hitting mid 12's, but not a GT easy. If I'm wrong, show me where I can see for myself.

All sorts of crazy cars pull up next to me and rev their engines showing off their silly tail pipes. They make it a point to spin their tires and floor it while I just baby my way through first.

I just love having myself paced where they're nose to my tail when I hit second, break the rear loose, squall the tires and disappear. Look in the rear-mirror . . . hey, where'd the competition go?

I've never had to hit third from a stand and then like to watch them try to catch up to go past me and never let them get past my tail. Pull away, wait, pull away, wait. I just love seeing how many times they'll try before giving up and realizing I didn't just get lucky or beat them in a specific power band.

I get some sort of sadistic pleasure out of watching a car I already beat, who is going much faster than me and thinks he's about to pass, just lose again when I hit the gas.

Talking

Then you should stop racing 15-second cars.

It takes tires, gears, a lot of bolt ons, killer driving and maybe some weight reduction to get mid 12s out of these cars.

That sounds right. I believe they can get there, just not as easily as someone posted earlier; he made it sound like 3 bolt-ons could get you there. The Mach 1's, on the other hand, is likely to see mid 12's with only a few bolt-ons.

No way! The fastest bone stock 99+ GT I have ever heard of did 13.6. Full exhaust is worth about 22 rwhp and should give 2-3 tenths. Gears should give 2-4 tenths and springs maybe 1 tenth. So at best this would be a 12.8. That is with all planets aligned, perfect track, perfect weather, perfect driver and the absolute best case scenerio. Let's see some proof of this mid 12 second GT with the above mentioned mods.

Steve you seriously need to get some updated times to see what your car runs now. It's been way too long seeing a 14.0 in your sig bro. I know your car is faster then that now.

The biggest problem you are gonna have is actually finding a bone stock LS1 to race. Lets face the facts here. LS1 F-bodies havn't been made since 02 so there has been lots of time for people to at least add the most basic of bolt-ons. Within two months of me getting my LS1 I had the Dynomouth exhaust ($150) and a Lid ($100) installed. It's gonna be hard to find a bonestock one without even a lid that has an owner that goes to the track and or is willing to street race.

I'm sure there are some but it'll be like finding a needle in a haystack. I'd bet almost everyone you find will have at least a lid and catback/cutout. But good luck cause you never know till you try. I think you'd be a real good race for any stock or close to stock LS1. You may lose by a few tenths but then again there is reaction time to consider, driver error and the fact that some LS1's only run 13.7 bone stock which you can probably beat anyway.

Good Luck and post up some new times man. I wanna see how good those DR work for you.

See my latest thread: Results: LS1 vs. me! I raced a bone stock (or close to it) LS1 and a bunch of other cars. I do need to get some new times. I think I should run about mid 13s with these mods. The trouble is, the nearest 1/4 mile sea level track is 140 miles each way. The nearest 1/4 mile 4000' track is 85 miles each way. I have been too lazy thus far to venture to either with the current mods when the grudge racing track is only 40 miles each way. Probably this winter I will go get some times. I'm pretty sure I will run about mid 13s but we will find out sooner or later.

I actually ran across a guy with a 100% down to the filter bone stock 2002 Z28. He ran 13.3 at Gainesville Raceway. Do I believe him, yes. We were fooling around on the road and neither of us had anything over the other from speeds between 20-70mph.

Why diod I post this??????
I am totally on a tangent here, sorry.
