Raced my first 03 Cobra and won
For $2,200 in mods you can take a stock 03 Cobra and get exhaust, pulley, and chip and get 460 RWHP. They take very nicely to mods and they are all forged from the factory. Sweet.
The only way we can get that kind of HP for that cheap with a GM is N2O. That is exactly what I plan to do. But that Nitrous gets expensive.

Hey, for the price of an 03 cobra you could always pick up an LT1 car with a billion miles on it for around 5 grand. Spend 15 grand on a stroker and a supercharger, another 5 on a good trans and rearend, another 2 on awesome rims and tires, another 3 on a killer paint job, and then you'd have a couple thousand left over for mods. Then go out and dust any 03 cobra (mods or not), a C5, a Z06, a Viper, a Lightning, just about anything else on the public highways... Guess it all depends on how you want to spend your $35K.
You guys are taking this a bit too seriously. I mean Ford finally releases a pony car that's quicker than the GM pony car (oh wait, there are no more GM pony cars). Who knows, maybe GM would have dropped the Z06 into the F-body. Maybe for the next gen they will install a factory supercharged LS1 (how cool would that be).
Oh well, glad when it comes down to it, I don't have to worry about any snakes dusting me. ::wink wink:: ::whistle whistle::

by the way you guys can also look for some dynos on camaros and trans-am's, very impressive indeed.

GM was not going to do anything to the f-bod even if it did stay alive till 03. It was known 2-3 years in advance the f-bod was being terminated, no pun intended.
Obviously you have never seen the very low 10 sec 03 Cobras with a Kenne Bell blower and bolt-ons. Or some of the 03 Cobras that have run 10.70s at 127mph with all bolt-ons and stock blower. Unless you are running 9s in the quarter then their are a few snakes that come to mind that would be a good run for you.
Well, as the price goes up on what we are comparing, I find the comparison of buying say an 03 cobra for $35k and a lesser priced car to mod it less valid. Think about it, most people on here would have to finance an 03 cobra, that means finance about 35 grand plus tax and title and little things like that. Since those cars are mean with minor mods, you could use some leftover cash for things like an intake, a pulley, and you could probably stretch money for exhaust. That should get you mid 400's to the wheels, maybe more if you're lucky.
Now if you wanted to buy an LT1 for around $5k, or find an LS1 for $11 and dump the rest in mods, you're gonna have to get a personal loan for the whole thing....... Try getting a personal loan for $35k, it's really just not practical. I know that I couldn't get a personal loan for $35k right now, my credit is good, but limited which limits me on unsecured loans. I also really don't own anything that expensive to secure a loan like that.
I would rather build up the LT1 or LS1 myself, but that's just me, however I really don't have the means to do either one. The mods I have on my car have been done over a three year period, and although I have good parts, I really don't have anything crazy expensive or ***** to the wall.

I seen the post about the mach 1 times and 03 cobra times. they are for real. I have raced a mach 1(bone stock) and it ran 13.3X @ 106. i even have a vid of it. I have race some lightly modded 03 cobras and got beat!
