I am not pissed. Fact: stock Mach 1s have gone low 13s. Fact: stock LS1s have gone high 12s. Fact: stock 99+ Mustang GTs have gone 13.6s. Fact: stock LT1s have gone 13.4ish. The truth is a bitter pill to swallow. Deal with it!

gaurantee you from them from a roll and the cobra wins everytime w/ equal drivers..best stock cobra time ive seen was a 12.4...havent seen any c5 run anywhere near that stock

a c5 will have an advantage on a cobra as the speeds increase.didnt evan smith get a 12.6 out of a 2000 FRC?theres no reason not to believe an 01-03 C5 cant get a similar ET.GMHTP got almost 112mph out of a 50th anniv. C5. in the 1/4.

 

very impressive times indeed and better then alot of stock 03 cobra times ive seen...Put evan smith in both cars and the cobra will be faster..The thing w/ the cobra isnt so much the stock performance, its the modability (is that a word ) that is unmatched and no one can argue that.

give me a z06 to mod or a stroker ls1 ill match it very nicely.

 

If I had a z06 the last thing I would be worried about would be a 03 Cobra, just a different class of car....talking realistically, the z06 is 15-20k more then the cobra and a stroked LS1 will cost you...w/ very little money the cobra can be made to run very fast very quick. There run deep in the 11's w/nothing much at all.

 

if its money youre talking about i can think of many cars id get for alot less than 35k and beat a cobra easy.

you said their performance cant be matched.thats what i was arguing.they can be matched and surpassed for alot less then what they cost to buy one.

These stroked engines can be more than you would imagine.

I talked to a guy while he was dynoeing his car that had a MTI built 422. Car dynoed 480rwhp/495rwtq. Very nice numbers. But something that could be had with a bolt-on 03 Cobra. The MTI stroker motor costs about 25k.

 

they are expensive but you can get other motors for less than that.you also dont need a stroker to get 480rwhp out of an ls1 either.thats obtainable on a stock block ls1.

03 cobras are like a sore peder..... hard to beat. Those things get retarded fast with minor mods. Intake, open up the exhaust and a pully swap then you have a car capable of embarrassing 99% of the cars you'll come across on the road.

 

That what I mean, sure you can go out and spend 10-15 grand on a good stroker motor for a Ls1, say pick a LS1 up for 10k so yea it would be cheaper I guess in the long run...But then again you can go buy a 70's pos Nova for nothing put a big block in it and decimate all for alot cheaper....The cobras get amazingly fast w/ not much at all...w/they do w/ simply bolt ons is gonna take atleast a heads/ cam LS1 to hang, and most times thats not even good enough. Like many I cant afford a new cobra so im choosing to go a different route...regardless of price the cobra is a great bang for the buck and well worth every penny if you can afford it.
