1. Where do I think they got that number from? Who knows, their a$$ maybe?
2. Why don't you contact the "DOT" and ask them what your car weighs exactly? Or better yet, contact GM.
3. I weighed my stock LG4 as a baseline, much like running down the 1/4 stock also. I wanted to know what mods accomplished what first of all, and secondly I made decisions on what specs (converter, cam, carb tuning, gearing etc etc) I needed based upon weight. I tried to put together a combo that works together, and weight is an important tool.
I don't want to hear anymore of that nonsense about shipping weight or manufacturer's measurements. Truckers often underrate their shipping payload to carry more to bring up earnings per shipment. They do this in the auto shipping industry as well. Many years ago when I first started working at a Lincoln/Mercury dealer, one of my job duties was to inspect cars as they were pulled off the trucks. Nearly every driver asked for routes around the weight station on I95, as they were overloaded - hench false shipping weights. And about manufacturer's measurements. GM rated the F-body LS1 at 305 crank HP. Actual measurements show that to be false. Same goes with the TTA, GN, Sy/Tys etc. Ford claimed 320HP for the 99 Cobra... BS! Look in a 2000 Ford Lightning owners manual sometime. They claim its only good for 14.6@95mph. That is also untrue. I can go on and on, but I'll save you the embarassment. Don't believe everything you read, no matter what its printed on. Especially anything government related.
BTW - I checked my title to see how much my cars weighs. Its shown at 3100 GVW. I know that's not true because I have weighed my car. But according to you that must be correct, so my car must also be lighter than your 4th gen right?

what you saw in that video is something that ricers do everyday when theyve been worn out too. the undeniable FLYBY you must be sammy hagar or some she-it with one foot on the brake and one on the gas HEY! i bet you cant drive 55 either.
some dudes actually drive their cars at least ones with a clutch so it takes a sec to put the foot on the brake. i would have coasted a little more but then the flyby came so i hit the brakes at that point to give him more room to avoid the trees if he needed it. i couldnt believe he was still going for it so close to the trees but im sure it was because he didnt want to let you down.

Big deal, a 305 turd gen beat an LS1. I could beat a top fuel dragster with a Yugo if I had enough mods and the driver of the dragster was bad enough. All this proves is the turd gen had a lot more mods than the LS1 and/or the driver of the LS1 sucked. Mod for mod the LS1 absolutely a** rapes the poor little 305.
