2001 Mustang Bullitt vs. 1994 Z28?
Either way,the LT1 feels like it has a lot more torque than the 4.6.I was not that impressed with his car when he took me out for a ride.I busted his ***** a bit.Shouldnt we be comparing same year cars anyhow?Wait we cant do that Camaro wins every time.93-02 Z28/SS VS GT/COBRA

The SS has a freaking ram air, ooooooooo and an exhaust. The lt1 was a good car, I owned 1. But it was even with the 2v GTs most of the time, hell I lost once to a 01 GT and he was stock to the paper filter. I had a CAI and magnaflow. He was just a hell of a good driver.
Its close enough that if the other driver is that much better than you, you may as well stick your head in your *** cause you are getting stomped.
Both cars are quite outclassed by todays standards but there are a few die hards out there. At least the lt1 has a following. The 2v is blower or swap to 4v. Hell with a set of cams, nice suspension and bolt-ons you can hit 11s, but no one tries anymore. We don't even have after market head castings! Our intake selection took 11 years to catch on, ect, ect, ect.
Oh and I love the Camaro to death and hope to get an 09 but it better be packing some heat as that Shelby SS is gonna pack one hell of a punch.

Was it an LT1 racing the Cobra?

I say it's a drivers race.
So when you say "my" you mean the 96-98 2V right? I can see those times out of a 99-04....but the 96-98 where some of the slowest stock stangs ever built. I have seen more in the 15's then anywhere near low 14's. I will take a LT1 of any year vs a 215hp 96-98. Seriously..........you ran 14.2 @ 97 in a stock 98 2V? That's got to be close to the fastest stock 96-98 EVER! I disagree completely.......a stock 96-98 2V GT is no F-ing match for a half way decently driven LT1.....period.
I have no reason to lie and it doesn't benefit me at all now, does it? Hell, I thought it was wrong too cause the car was a heavy turd. LOL.I still say a DECENTLY driven STOCK 2v is a great match for a stock LT1. I still say it's a drivers race and have proven it.
BTW, I agree with you 100% that 96-98 were the worst years for the 2v, however, once you start modifying like I have, the game is different.
Also just to note and not that it's a significant difference but the 96 and 97 2V's had 215hp ... the 98 had a whopping 225hp mostly due to computer tuning from Furd. Also to note, the 98 was the "bastard" year and it's obvious Furd planned on the "returnless" fuel system already becuase the fuel bucket in the 98 is a bastard'ized thing and looks like ford started but didn't go all the way with returnless ---- whew aren't I glad?
I will agree that Tims case is unusual from what I have seen and heard but the PI cars did actually run quite well with the lt1s. The 96-98 cars I have seen usually hit around mid 14s to low 15s, but hell we have LT1s that have hit 13.5 stock so why not ford having a few ringers.
I personally know that the guy who beat me was stock(completely) and ran a 13.8 in his 01 GT. I have heard of a few people hitting lower as well.
If there are any near stock LT1s in Rochester or Buffalo NY I'll gladly run them to prove my point. (Gears are not in).

Tim......I know you for the most part, or as much as a fellow net-er can I guess? I don't by any means call you a liar.......but 14.2 from a 2V "turd"? A little crazy huh? How about this......how many 14.2 @ 97 runs did you pull? I am just going off what I have seen 99% of the time......and that is 15.0 - well into disgrace for a Furd! If I remember right a single 14.8 pass out of the 100's I have seen form the 2V.
98-04 gt's are pretty close to lt1's even though they are newer and more modernized, everyone and their mom and dog and cat knows the 96-98 gt's dont stand a chance stock for stock race after race vs any of the v8 fbodies. ls1 z28's and ss's? haha goodbye. now im not commparing the ls1 to all the blown stangs and ones that are made to compete with vettes so dont get me twizted
