Its all good dude, like I said anything can happen on the street,so No I dont think you are lying, but hey if you get the next one on video tape that would be cool to see.

We can probably agree that that's pretty unlikely.

Now, using a more likely 15% we get 260whp (from 305).

To get 280whp, and using a 15% drivetrain loss, that's a 330hp rating at the crank.

So, the engine is obviously underrated.

Most Machs I have seen dynos of have been in the high 270s/low 280s range. That seems typical for the car, so it seems the engine is somewhat underrated. I have only ever seen one Mach in the 290 range stock.

And LS1s are 305 unless you have an SS or WS6 or something, and 96 LT1s were 285...my masters tells me 305-285=20, but hey what do I know

I hope its not a masters in "Automotive Knowledge" LS1's are closer to 305 @ the wheels than at the crank. Where have you been? Is this the first time youv'e heard this? Same engine in ss as in Z28 EXACTLY.

No offense to lt1 guys just facts.................sorry

My Moroso CAI didn't put me at 307rwhp... did you get a special edition intake or something? Or are you secretly running a electric supercharger and not telling us?

Re: 03' Mach 1 vs. My 96'Z

From the sounds of it the Mach 1 guy couldn't drive. Shifting gears has alot to do with winning the race from a roll. Pretty much any race. Good driver kill.

Like the others are saying, the LS1 was way underated and there is really no difference in the SS and Z28 model except for the pretty hood and maybe an SLP exhaust. ( Yes I know about the different suspension set ups that some had.) So maybe another 10rwhp. The LT1 was pretty much on cue for rated power. Dyno runs have proved this again and again.

From what your saying about your intake gains I should be in the mid
12's. Sweet. Maybe that was flywheel power on a cold, no humidity kinda day.

I hope you don't mean masters degree as in a college degree...we are the same age and that would put us as sophmores in college...

LOL...

I wonder if he was racing a "poser" Mustang. There are tons around here pretending to be machs and GT's.

So we go onto the highway, and he wants to go off a roll @ like 50mph, and then at 20, whatever hes an idiot...so every time I start pulling away from him he says that his radar went off and he had to slow down..bs.., then he tries to race my friends STI and as soon as Mike in the STi gets like 3 cars on him, he pulls the same radar line/ I wanted him to do one last one so we went from like 50 and I just shifted my car into 3rd,and he starts going in 1st gear..just red lining the SH#*t out of it, but I still got like a car on him and then I slowed down because my front left rim has a dent the size of an orange in it lol, so I nailed the brakes at like 115, and my front brake started sparking!! it was a sign from God that I need new brakes lol, but yeh the point is....mustangs suck lol
With your mods you may be able to put up a decent race against a mach1 and maybe even beat one but easily beat one or destroy one..Um..No...Not gonna happen with those mods.
I wanna call the flag when He said the guy in the STi had his turn beating up on the mach1. I actually had a light blt on mach1 hand it to me in my LT1 a few weeks ago at the track. Granted I have 2:73
s I still have a CAI,dynomax muffler,hp3 and airfoil I ran a 13.706@102 VS his 13.2@107 with identical 60's. So obviously, it was putting down a signifigant amount of HP more then the LT1. I still have the torque but with his trap speeds he would have thrashed my LT1 on the highway.
Just being realistic.Im sure the Ford guys wanted to jump on this one but didnt wanna get called FLAMERS!..Thats ok..Us realistic people have you'r back.

Thats funny that you say that,I was on my way home tonight and I stopped at KFC,one of the employees that was there insisted that my cobra was a regular stang and that the cobra emblems were put on.I laughed my *** off and asked him to lay off the crack, that told him it was a real terminator. The guy cracked me up.I actually drove beside a Z28 Lt1 on the way home also but he wouldnt play,he was a older guy and probably thought I was stupid for trying. Oh well

Re: 03' Mach 1 vs. My 96'Z

Coulda been an auto Mach1 yes? Missed that detail if he stated it was clearly a 5spd. As I understand it they are significantly slower.

Also, I don't buy his 307rwhp w/ a intake claim, but more than a few LT1 guys on here have shown 260-270 rwhp from dead stock 6spd LT1s (I'd say 250-260 is more like the norm over the earlier quoted 230-240 anyway...), this guy could have one of the stronger LT1s as well. Even if it's only a somewhat average 255ish rwhp LT1, w/ a few bolt ons he could have enough to put a couple cars on a average Mach1 even if it's a 5spd... Certainly close enough that a superior driver could indeed make it a easy kill...

Oh and LS1s have an easy 40+hp at least over your average LT1...

He might be onto something cuz i decided to do a little investigating so i went onto GT4 a bought a 97 Z28. it ran a 13.8 at 104mph and with the racing exhaust for 3500 credits put it to a 13.4 at 107mph. As a lot of import owners know GT4 is very realistic. They even got the strong 3rd gear pull that all LT1's have.
