Please dont use that argument................so weak.
How about 1 less liter and WORSE fuel mileage........can ya feel where I'm coming from brudda.

Machs are cool............and they run strong........EVEN WITH A GIRL SIZED MOTOR

How about skip-shift & a mileage-friendly 6th gear???

Those are the two main reasons it gets such good gas mileage - engine design has little to do with it...

My auto gets 24+ on the highway.............hmmmm

Like I said, BIGGER MORE POWERFUL MOTOR AND BETTER FUEL MILEAGE.
If its so easy why didnt Ford do it? Oh! I see, they didnt want to get good fuel mileage

And it was more or less a joke dude.

My LS1 M6 got 30MPG on the highway when it was bone stock on a straight thrue trip. My auto LS1 only got 26 on the same exact route my M6 drove thrue.

There's no question, it is more powerful. Too bad they run similar times. Stock for stock, it's a driver's race.

And as for the "why didn't Ford do it" part, that's a good question. I'll never understand it. But, you can bet your *** that it isn't because they can't.

Ford did do it.... my Mach gets 24 - 25 mpg on the highway with 4.30 gears and no deep overdrive gear.

Good to hear. After a while some of the arguments are like a dog chasing its tail, ya know?

Dont get sensative on me. I dont REALLY care what the fuel mileage is, I was kinda kidding for the sake of a lame argument

Final drive ratio definitely helps the fuel economy of the LS1 in the old F-bodies. From what I've seen, the '04 GTO's get sh*tty fuel economy and they've got the LS1 in them. Kinda' proves that point.

THey weigh a bit more.

For the amount of HP LS1's get awsome fuel economy. Mine is geared now and still gets good MPG cammed with gears.

Its the GTO's weight that brings the fuel economy down. The m6 GTOs have a 3.46:1 final drive ratio; the m6 fbodies a 3.42. Almost exactly the same.
