Re: 03' Mach 1 vs. My 96'Z

Just thinking How I did when I was fourteen, I came up with this conclusion. The poster states 96' LT1s had 285 rated hp. He says his car dynoed 307 With just the intake. If I remember correctly, Moroso claimed a 22hp gain for their intake. 285+22=307. Sounds like someone does'nt know the difference between flywheel hp and rearwheel hp. And I have to disagree, Mach 1s are great, they put the good motor with the un-gay rearend. P.S. I think STIs are garbage, and look like the B9 Tribeca.

Are you sure the previous owner didn't do any upgrades? Do you have dyno graphs? What kind of dyno was it?

That is WAY above the typical LT1 power output.

'98-'00 Z28/TA: 305
'98-'00 SS/WS6: 320
'01-'02 Z28/TA: 310
'01-'02 SS/WS6: 325

There was a cam change and they switched to the LS6 intake manifold for the '01 and '02 cars, hence the 5hp increase.

They are all underrated, though, in reality making 340-350 horsepower at the flywheel.

Re: 03' Mach 1 vs. My 96'Z

The two strongest stock LS1's I have seen were both 2002 SS's...

First one was a M6 with 700 miles on it. He ran 13.2@112 mph and could not believe it...so he wanted to see how much it would dyno...it made 349/350 std on my bud's Dynojet. I scoured this car for mods and it was untouched...the baddest virgin LS1 I have ever seen.

The second one was an automatic with around 3000 miles on it. It put down 329/350 std and with cheap hyper-tech tune, it put down 342/360 std.

On a side note...I have seen a few Mach 1's dyno...mid 280's/310's stock std and saw one dyno 293/315 std stock.

Yeah, you're right. They make similar horsepower with one less liter. They suck.

I know more then one person with a poser Mustang. A friend of mine has a 2002 V6 and this thing is a bonified clone. It looks identical to a Cobra inside out. Sitting still from the outside you cant tell though as it looks VERY fast although it is very slow...LOL...The most annoying thing is he trys to convince people its real and is always getting his a.s.s handed to him bye the cars he is trying to race. So there are many locals here thinking they have demolished a Cobra. He is thinking of buying an Evo and lord I hope he does. He is giving domestics a bad name around here. One thing I dont understand is that he is a rich kid and his pony is a convertible. He could have easily afforded a Cobra.

Personally have seen the Mach's go 12.80's - you have some hidden items on your car IMO.

That is unreal. Easily the highest dynoing LS1 cars I have ever heard of.

The highest Mach I have ever heard of dynoing was 293 as well. But I believe it was SAE corrected, not STD.

Thanks for the compliments. I decided I'm just going to stay out of this one and let the kids have their time.

13.2@112?.....hmm..Look man , not trying to be an *** or flame you and not to knock LS1 its my favorite engine out of every engine in the planet, no kidding, But trapping 112 stock and only running a 13.2. Dont know man, that sounds rediculous. trapping 112 you should be able to fall asleep at the wheel and runs 12's My car was trapping 107-108 stock and that was rare and I was running 13.1-13.3 with horrible 60's and pulled off a 12 second run with stickies " Not stock so I didnt count it" But man, 113? Are you sure it didnt have a cheater cam in it and maybe some gutted cats with a tune. If it was truely stock then thats just crazy.

That's what I was thinking too. It's REALLY hard to tell if an engine has an aftermarket cam by looking at it.
