ALSO, Speed Specialty said they had not done well with shipping cost estimates for these items, so the price would be somewhat higher for this second go round.

All things being equal though, a $20 dollar difference is NOT anything I am complaining about. I am just grateful to have this set.
Who said im complaining??? This is my 4th set from bob already!!!!!

What is said is that its ironic that this is the longest thread in the GP forum, this is one of the MOST COMMITTED GPs with the most users and ironically enough the price goes up...

As a matter of fact IIRC GMPP sells the spindles complete to do the upgrade to the C5 brakes.

IM not complaining, just pointing out the facts of life

Funny thing... with the GP prices went up
After adding up all of my costs, I am personally making less per set of brackets on this GP than I did on the one in April. As I posted previously, the cost of aluminum has gone up, but there are 2 other reasons for the increase (on my end). I have switched from my regular supplier to ARP for the 10mm wheel-bearing-assembly bolts. That increased my cost $12.88 per bracket set. I have never had a bolt failure (except in the testing lab at over 22,000 lbs), but I like overkill, and after much research, I decided that I wanted better quality bolts than the ones GM used. After all, you all are paying, and I think you’re worth it.

The other improvement is an additional machining step. I have been hand-chamfering the corners (inner and outer, and top and bottom edges) up to this point. Before aluminum is shot peened, the corners must be broken or the edges will be “rolled” by the impact of the shot. This rolling would create stress risers and could forfeit some of the benefit of the shot peening process. My shot peener has recently hired a certified peening QC engineer, so that their Georgia facility would be AS-9100 compliant also. This “expert” strongly recommended (it was more like a threat) that I write an additional CNC program to do the chamfering, like the aircraft part suppliers do. I have implemented this process change. This requires each bracket to be re-indexed twice in the mill, and means more actual machining time. Time = money.

Quality is costly, and brakes are very important.

Bob

Bob Bishop C5 brackets

Great explanation Bob but I don't believe the guy who said that meant it as a complaint or a flame and as you can see very few people have dropped out and everyone is paying the price and are glad to do so. We all recognize you are putting out a very quality product and have no problem with it. Besides I like the fact that I can buy replacement C5 parts rather than have to pay Baer prices.

Just checking- I was one of the first to pay up (within minutes of you sending out the email), and it appears that I am accounted for on the list, but I never recieved a confirmation email as others have. Is this a bad thing?

Shouldn't be. I have your order information and proof of your order, I am all set on my end.

I do not know why you didn't get an e-mail confirmation from PayPal, you can always log into your account and check.
