I have a dumb question that I should have asked before.
Will the stock camaro spare wheel clear the 13" C5 brake package?
Has anyone that is using this brake system been unfortunate enough to try this on a dark stormy night?
Thanks

Another thing you have to keep in mind is that nobody makes a true skinny that fits (at least that I have been able to find). The closest thing is a custom set of CCW wheels that are $900/pair and they're still 5.5" wide.

No, neither the LT1 nor the LS1 spare tire will fit; I've already been down this path. Pep Boys sells a kit that has a bottle of Slime and an air compressor for $20 - better get one (or switch to run-flats)!

The tire changing guys will love you for using the slime.
Thanks for the info,

I guess you are ok if the flat is on the rear, if not, then it is musical tire time.

The problem: I do not think that the 4th gen F-body spare tire well could accommodate the additional diameter of the C4 spare. It could easily handle the additional width of 1.2”. If someone is interested, maybe they could go by a wrecking yard and test fit a 17” C4 spare in the well.

It was included on earlier C4’s which had the performance package which included 13” brakes and 17” wheels. It is a 155/70 17, which calculates to a 25.54” diameter. Our regular tires were usually 25.7” diameter, when new. This spare would be a much better match than the space saver that came on my ’94 Z28, which is 125/70 15. That calculates to a 21.9” diameter. Using our small spare causes one corner of the front to sit very low, or worse, it causes continual wear/stress on our limited slip differential if used on the rear axle. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...category=42614 see the last picture at this link.

I hadn't thought about a corvette spare.
The height difference would be 3.64" using your calcuations and depending on how exact the tire dimensions are.
You could store the tire in the trunk well with the factory hold down and the hook point under the carpet flap. I think that would prevent the cargo cover from shutting.
I agree that running the spare on the back isn't good. I think the owners manual warns that it can be done only for low speed and short distance.
I am out in the missouri sticks and local salvage yard didn't have any of that new stuff. I was going to make a trip and check it out.
When it stops raining I will check out the current spare storage area. The 3.64" is a little less than the height of my fist. So that will make it easy to gage the available room.
Thanks
