Final chance at getting a set of Bob Bishop C5 to F-body Brake Conversion Brackets...
this rotors are not casted with the holes... so the best guess is that the rotors will have a substantial shorter life than the stockers... i've had mine for about 4k miles on the z06 and i have not seen cracks on them yet...
Will check them out today and let you know

If you are talking about an all out racing pad, go to the racing forum at ZO6.com and ask your question there.
Darrin,
Hal Baer has much more experience than I. He says that if everything else remains the same, that in street driving you will sacrifice around 15% of the service life of rotors by cross drilling. In racetrack use he says that the loss can be “upwards of 50%”. Since that was a published magazine interview, and most of his sales are of cross-drilled rotors, I think he may have been conservative in his racetrack estimate. “Upwards of 50%” is probably correct, but in most cases with lighter weight rotors, he may have been equally accurate to have said “upwards of 75%” loss. I have also seen significant vehicle damage when lightweight cross-drilled rotors cracked and came apart on the race track.
I called Delco Durastop today (888 701-6169) and the tech I spoke with said that their cross-drilled slotted rotors would last just as long as stock C5 rotors, or longer, if only driven on the street. He agreed with the previous tech I spoke with about their drilled rotors in track use – don’t do it.
JAJAJA... DONT DO IT!!! JAJAJAJAJA
Guess I will keep the originals then once these ones start to crack!!!!
I have the hawk option pads for the z06 now that you say it.. cost was around $160 for the pads only...
I have all the shims and stuff...
AND YES THEY DOST HORRIBLY!!! but my main concern is braking and no fading... Racing with my father is crazy
it will beat up any brake system probably.

Thanks for the input, your expertise and time spent here answering questions is invalueable and most appreciated.
So as long as I stay away from the track (which is NO problem) I should still be ok with the cross drilled rotors. 15% is an acceptable loss given the significant gain in the looks department. Besides, I can always purchase stock C5 rotors if these don't work out.
Any suggestions for a good rear match in the cross drilled department since I cannot use the C5 rear rotors? Not looking to upgrade the rear brake performance, just the looks to match the fronts.
Thanks again,
Darrin

I didn't receive an email, but we're definitely still interested in two sets. (Chances are your email was filtered out as SPAM if it didn't have "Camaro" in the title.) If you could re-send the email to me, I'll watch for it and forward it on to my husband, Steve so he can see it, too.Thank you!!!

awe no sweat. I organized a Nitto GP here a few years back (~60 people total) so I know how crazy it can be just to get everything organized.
Just getting all of the buyers list streamlined makes it a ton easier to sort out. I'll send you an update to the email I sent over yesterday once I've received a reply from everyone. So far I've got 33 sets spoken for, and 23 of them confirmed within the past 24 hours.
No rush on my part, I'm not lookin' to pressure Bob into a 2nd-batch commitment... maybe "pleading" is a better word for it.
Anyway, I'm putting $300 aside for a month or so to make sure I can jump when/if Bob's cool with a second batch. At least half of the confirmations said exactly the same thing so I'm pretty sure most of these are sure-thing commitments.
<edit> BTW, 24 confirmed.

Hi,
I have been doing some brake research and found this thread after emailing Bob.
I would like to be added to the waiting list for one set of brackets.
I have a paypal account and can react quickly.
Thanks

No insult intended to your C5 Kits, but it looks like I won't be able to make the cut for your next run.
I looked at the offering from GMPP. Thet sell a full rotor and cut rotor bracket kit. Very little info is given on the kit. They do say it is for installing 1996 covette brakes on an F body.
12480038 Bracket Cut Rotor
12480039 Bracket Full Rotor
I can't tell if the kit is for a set or only one side.
Their price is $252.85 for one 12480039 plus shipping.

Have you ever seen this kit installed on a camaro? If so what did you think of it?
I have a '95 Lt1, so the C4 brakes would be a major upgrade. Not as good as the C5, but better than stock.
I am not looking for a cosmetic change, but an upgrade to my tired calipers with 89k miles on them.
Thanks for your input

I am not sure what you intend to use your car for. If you are looking for a real performance upgrade, then a C4 system would be a step backwards. The thickest C4 rotor is 1.1” thick. I have seen them repeatedly crack on Vettes and 4th gen F-bodies (the Baer Track system) alike. The rotors simply cannot handle high levels of heat. Starting with the ’93 F-body, GM gave the car 1.28” thick front rotors. In ’97, the Vette was upgraded to 1.26” thick directionally vaned front rotors. Also, the C4 caliper is much smaller and uses a smaller pad than the C5 caliper and is much more prone to caliper spread. Before I decided which brake system to adapt to my Camaro, I spoke with Jamie Worthington and Ruben Newman. Jamie was the chief brake system engineer at Chevrolet for the C5 and Ruben was his counterpart at PBR in Australia. They explained in detail why the C5 front system was the only serious GM upgrade for the heavier and nose-heavy F-body. Long before I started making adaptor brackets, I warned F-body friends to avoid C4 brakes for high performance use. If you are doing just normal serious street driving, then a properly operating LT1 brake system with appropriate pads will perform as well as ANY brake “upgrade”.
As I said earlier, I don’t care to give subjective cosmetic opinions, and you mentioned that you are not looking for bling. If, for whatever reason, you are not interested in (the possibility) of my adaptors, you might look at the Baer GT+ system. It uses the stiff C5 caliper and a 13.15” diameter rotor that is 1.26” thick, with very thick cheeks in their current version. Every owner post I have read on them has been positive.
