Steve,

You can put me down on the list as I never know if I will be buying another car to replace my '00 WS6 that I just sold. I would surely want the brakes to match the ones on my '02 WS6. It cannot hurt to have a spare set laying around "just in case."

I'll take another set if it will definitely wrap this up.

Just wanted to say thanks Bob. I had just returned from the first of what will be a lifetime of roadcourse events in my camaro when I started searching for a brake upgrade and found that the June set had sold out and you werent making more. The accessibility to endless factory parts with this conversion is priceless and I am so relieved that you decided to go one more round. Thanks-

Also, while I'm here I have posted a couple of related questions in the Chassis and Brake section under the previously placed 'Bob's Brackets' heading, if you guys wouldnt mind taking a look I'd appreciate it.

C5 Rear Calipers on 95 Lt1????

I was wondering if Bob, or anyone had tried to fit the C5 rear caliper on the back axle of an 1995 LT1?

Possible?, or nightmare?

Thanks

why? it's smaller than ours... no advantage. If anything it would probably cause worse braking, the exception of course being wheel hop which may be present in LS1 set ups.

If there was to be an upgrade at all, I'd personally go for the 1-piece rotor/ebrake of the LS1 cars. LT1 ebrakes are just a cable on the normal caliper... In an LS1 you could actually increase rear brakes pad-contact as it uses a separate rear drum. No sane reason for one over the other, but those of us who grew up north of the 52nd parrallel understand the the appeal a strong e-brake system can provide. Besides, the LT1 ebrake becomes useless if you get the rear rotors coated in oil or fry the pads... the LS1 protects the surface inside a drum.

All,

I have been watching this thread. I am willing to do this again, but I also have to work on pricing information. The shipping on the last batch really killed us.

I also have to get things set up again to do this one more time. It was a very large undertaking.

Give us and Bob a few more days to get things straightened out and we'll post again with updates.

Thanks!

I have not compared the two systems myself. So if it is smaller then it would be best left alone. I assumed that the corvette would have larger rear pads/brakes than the LT1.

Thanks For the Info.

Yeah, I think it has to do with the fact that Fbodies are heavier and are a lot more front-heavy. GM did pretty good on the LT1's F/R balance and the rear brakes as well, but the extra weight our front brakes are wholely inadequate IMO... which why we're all here I guess.

Speed Specialty: thanks for your help is distributing Bob's brackets, let me know when you want the lastest list and I'll send it over with everyone's email address listed.

Sorry to post this here but I think this is the only place where I can get a response to this question as this is where the experience is with these calipers. So far as the black C5 calipers, I have looked at these on vettes and they always look like crap. I cant tell if this is because they just arent clean or if its crappy/thin paint. I'm wondering if I should put a clear coat on these before I install them. Can anyone tell me if the paint on theirs is holding up? Thanks-
