and so it begins!
Re: and so it begins!
For me, the speed here has just not been an issue. There is the occasional page that doesn't load... I hit "refresh" and it comes up. I know that's not perfect, but it's completely acceptable IMO. I've been on plenty of other sites that do the same thing and it's never bothered me at all.
Re: and so it begins!
I'm not trying to nit-pick. I know the site changed servers, and ownership, but I figured after a month or two of people bitching, posting screenshots, that someone would take a hint and fix it. We're just asking for a site to load.
EDIT: Tonight was the first night that I haven't noticed any consistent slow downs.

Re: and so it begins!
When I first logged on this morning the main forum page loaded fine. When I tried to access this particular thread the screen just hung for 30-45 seconds and when I pressed refresh it loaded fine.
I'm not a web person but I suspect a caching issue or a particular site component (like a particular ad) delaying things from time to time. Intermittent issues can be tough to find. When I pulled up the site right now it was fine.

hey Ted,
Thanks again for the report.
@One Wicked Element: I don't have an answer for you. I am not a tech guy, and I, like you feel that it should be something that can just be 'fixed'. However I guess the reality is that it's not like there is an on and an off switch. There are a lot of variables. Server type, networking connections, database server, even small things like different versions of php, or mysql on the underlying servers can create unforeseen issues. I do know that we are working hard to literally rule out every single variable one by one, hence the time it's taking for resolution.
There have been small changes made here at CZ28 every single day this week, but based on the reports from this morning, we haven't found the root cause yet. We'll keep looking until we do.
cheers,
robb

I just checked the logs, don't see anything unusual

Re: and so it begins!
FWIW nothing has changed. I haven't been posting updates since I'm not on here much anymore. But I logged into the Lounge this morning and it took a solid 40+ seconds to load, and the Site Suggestions forum took 20-30 seconds.
I really hope you guys are able to get the issue fixed. Let me know if there's anything else I can do.

Robb, I'm not trying to be a *****, but you guys are destroying this site. It took years & lots of hard work to get it to where is was before IB bought it. Sure, there was the occasional hiccup, but these ads & ridiculous hang times are driving people away. If I were the one that bought this site, I'd put it back the way it was until the problem can be figured out. You have to keep the users happy or they'll stop coming here.
