On my android tablet, the window with that pop up nearly covered the whole screen. Not good.

Hi Rob,

I"m really sorry that this damn opinion mart survey keeps popping up. It's not just CZ28, it's not even just automotive sites. Some chatter on the internet is pointing towards Google being the root cause of these pop ups with their adsense programs. Believe me when I say, that we are ALL pulling our hair out here, trying to figure out where they are coming from, and how on earth we can stop them.

We've tried turning off all our ad networks one by one, except for Google, as that is one we simply can't do away with. We thought we had them licked last week, but this week has humbled us, and shown otherwise.

Again, I apologize that these keep occurring, but we are doing everything we can to find, and eradicate them.

cheers,
robb

Re: and so it begins!

Glad to know it is being looked into. I don't know if it is causing the other slowness, but when I go from a closed window to this site, it takes about 30 seconds to load. Subsequent clicks to posts or other forums within the site are faster, but not as fast as in the past. I never used to notice loading messages on the bottom left of my Chrome browser screen.

Anyway, Opinion Mart does not really want my honest opinion right now.

I did not even know about the change of hands until I started investigating the slowness. I have to say I'm disappointed with the results of the change. I would not be surprised if it drove more people away. It seems board traffic (at least where I go) has been on the decline for a while (not talking about seasonal traffic).

Edit...I am now on my tablet and was just greeted by a screen covering pop up from Opinion Mart (whatever that is). It also took about thirty seconds for the page to load for the first time. The site has been terrible today, even on my PC.
I agree, this has been the norm since the take over. I was hoping that Robb would have addressed this in his response about the pop-ups but I guess it was "overlooked"...

Re: and so it begins!

This keeps happening to me:

I get a vertical ad stacked on top so I have to scroll down a bunch just to get to the thread. As far as I've seen it's always the Subaru ad.

I'll post the good, too. Performance has been noticeably better today for me.

Board response time has been terrible lately. Sometimes I get "page cannot be displayed" and have to try again.

Another nice ad.

I poked around the site a bit and from what I can tell the Lounge seems to be the only sub-forum that's suffering from the extreme slowness. I can go into the tech forums and refresh the page in a couple of seconds. I go into the Lounge and it might take 2 minutes to refresh the page.

I have had an ad shift the forum over like that too. Also many ads that have been placed over links and names of posters.

I have been monitoring the site load times, and things have improved over the past week. I'm not sure why so many hiccups, but hopefully we are past that now.

In regards to the ads that are blocking things, or breaking the page layout, that's definitely not good.

Can you guys try to lend a hand by letting me know what browser version and operating system you're running. Additionally, if you're able to right click on top of the problematic ads, and copy the destination URL, please share that as well, as it will enable us to find it much quicker.

cheers,
robb

Re: and so it begins!

Now I am getting very frequent messages that Internet Explorer can not display the page and to check for connection problems. I have at least one other page open that is working just fine, but this one I have to F5 multiple times to get it to come up...

Re: and so it begins!

Can you please let me know who your provider is, what your operating system is as well. Which version of IE to you use? Would you be able to try a different browser, Chrome, Safari, or Firefox and let me know if the problem continues please?

cheers,
robb
