Rubbing Compound ? 39009

Yesterday I picked up some 39009 and some Meguiars gold class and got to work on my car. The previous owner had it sitting next to some sprinklers and on one side it got some bad water spots. So I used the 3M 39009 Rubbing compound on it. It worked pretty good just took time. It now looks great! Gave it a nice shine! Then I went over that with some Meguiars to protect it.

Now like 8 months ago when I used some rubbing compound on my moms car it did the same think. Made the paint nice and shiny. But then a couple hours later it got all dull again. My question is will this happen to my car? Also when do you use 39009? Thanks.

Just be sure to remove it as you go, then wax/polish over it. The 39009 is NOT a top coat. You have to cover it with something like Zaino or Meguiars to get a long lasting shine.
