A few questions

The car set outside for a while because I had other projects in the garage and now I am paying for it, paint wise. I have washed and clay bar'd the hood and spoiler but it still has what looks like oxidation on them. What products/process do you recommend to clean up again?

Second is carpet care. The carpet in the car has never been torn or worn thin since I bought it but there have been some spots that I wasn't able to remove. I tired oxy-clean and water mix and that got some of them but still not as good as I would like. Trying not to have to spend money on new carpet for a couple of stains.

And last is dash pad question. Looking on ebay I found a couple of OEM replacement ones that don't look too bad and several "glue it over your busted up stock one" types. Has anyone used these?

That also got me thinking has anyone ever taken their cracked one off and repaired from underneath to strengthen it then covered top in vinyl for apperances? I did something similar in my old 89 camaro, but that pad was more of a square design and easier to cover I would imagine.

Thanks to all

1. It would be nice to see pics in regards to the oxidation, but possibly some light rubbing compound and/or swirl mark remover might be a 'path of least resistance first' method to help remove/lessen this.

2. I'm not much help on fabric/carpet issues - spot shot maybe?

3. This should help you in regards to the dash pad.https://www.camaroz28.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=721129

Hope this helps.

depending on how bad things are you may need to start with wetsanding paper. (1500-3000). Than a good rubbing compound, than a polish or glaze, than good wax.

Post pics.

Thanks for the help guys. Oxidation is the wrong word but that is what it looks like. The paint is actually less than a year old. The spots on the paint are no doubt from leaves and what not sitting on the paint. Here is the best picture I could snap.

You can see the spots around the reflection of my hand that look "fadded", that is the problem with the paint.

If the car was left outside without adequate protection for the paint then it could have, and from the picture it appears to be, oxidation. Have you tried something like a Porter Cable or Flex polisher?

wet sand around the left imprint areas. Than polish or buff with a PC or something along those lines. Everything should come off, than do the whole car so the shine flows across the whole car.

Wetsanding can sometimes do more damage than good, and from that photo it certainly doesn't look like it needs to be wetsanded.
