Wanted: junior computer/IT person to work with our company
I think the bottom line is that its a pretty damn scary decision to do anything after graduating from grade school. Four years of university almost means squat in todays work force. Thats a bitter pill to swallow considering the costs to further your education.
I drive a truck for a living and you would be surprised at how many "educated trucker"s (as we call them) are out there. For whatever reason their education didnt pay off.....there wasnt employment available.....starting wages to low...ect.
I also have other friends who have university schooling who are in the same position. They now have a huge debt load, working some job having nothing to do with what they went to school for.
Now Im not against going to school, but in todays world you had better be 100% sure what your going in for is the right decision. And if you decide to go ahead with your education plan on getting some experience. Make some contacts in the field, work for some sh!tty wages while your are schooling. That initiative and experience is probably worth more than the degree itself in the long run.
Be prepared for the long haul.....it can be a long way to the top.

I agree with the above...its also good to do some research so that we aren't trying to get a job as a "modern day blacksmith." (take a look at the job market before you make any long term education desisions)
