Hey fellas, guess I am the FNG
Hey fellas, guess I am the FNG
Hey fellas, new Z28 owner here from SW Florida.
I picked up a 95 Z28 with 108,000 for $950.
The Good:
Motor is strong and stock
Tranny freshly rebuilt a year ago
Body in decent shape minus cheap paint job (sprayed black right over the red)
The Bad:
Motor has oil leak (seems to be intake manifold & possibly main seal)
Has exhaust leak (hearing a slight tick, research leads to exhaust leak)
Eletrical nightmare (wires have shroud missing in random places, plus a crappy aftermarket alarm not installed properly which is already removed completely)
Power windows dont work (need motors)
AC doesnt blow cold (possible recharge?)
No radio or speakers (Oh well)
Had an "overheating" problem. I replaced both coolant temp sensors and fixed the front bumper so that the air deflector could freely flow air into the radiator. Been driving daily for 2 weeks now and it gets up to about 220-230 when sitting in bumper to bumper traffic, but other than that it stays between 185-200.
I am looking forward to picking everyone's brains from time to time.
Thanks,
James

Re: Hey fellas, guess I am the FNG
hey welcome to the site! hope you get all those little problems sorted out and don't have to worry about it anymore! what are your plans with the car? are you planning on modding it once you have her running right?
Re: Hey fellas, guess I am the FNG
Thanks for the welcomes. I haven't really decided what my plan is, and from what it seems plans change just when you think you've got it figured out. My main thing is to get these issues taken care of first, then I will start with suspension/brakes and go from there.
Re: Hey fellas, guess I am the FNG
no matter what you decide to do, and no matter what problems she puts you through, at the end of the day when you see her parked in your driveway its a hell of a good feeling. When she's finally running right, don't forget to go out there and have some with her!
