Post Needing criticism and advice for the worst ever modded Lt1 times :(

Hey guys,

Well yesterday I went to the track for the first time ever and was extremely dissapointed. I want advice and constructive criticism. I went with a bunch of camaros so here are the facts. Last week I dynoed 270rwhp and 350tq. My car has Hooker shorties a cutout and a ram-air hood with functional lid and a 3200 converter. My buddy that dynoed 254rwhp and 285tq ran 13.8 and a convertible lt1 with a cutout ran a 13.9 both A4's. My first time ever and I was nervous. I am assuming that with practice and traction my car may still be where I estimated but I want your opinions. I think it may be a little slower than I thought. Weather was very cool as I ran at around 8pm. I would guess it was around mid 60's maybe lower.

First run
r/t .578
60 ft 2.515
I2 6.836
I3 NO READING 74.853 MPH
I4 12.853
ET 15.214 @95.487

NOTES: I got completely sideways coming out launching at 1300 rpms on street tires. I had to completely let off and straighten out.
I also ran in OD if that makes a difference.

2ND RUN
R/T .826( I WAS BUSY LOOKING AT THE 12FLAT CAMARO NEXT TO ME. OOOPS)
60FT 2.390
I2 6.345
I3 9.463 @ 79.274
I4 12.131
ET 14.400 @ 99.2MPH
NOTES
I spun really hard once again even while trying to baby it out. I took off from idle and tried not to punch it. Still way too much tire spin as evidenced by the 60ft. Also when it shifted into second it kicked pretty violent. So much so that I am not sure if I let up or if mayb my converter is acting up. All I remember is that after the 2nd shift it got squirelly again and I remember hearing it hunker back down into that WOT sound. So I either let off or maybe I have a problem. I ran this run in D instead.

Is it true that a reduction of a tenth in your 60ft can equal 1.5 to 2 tenths on your et? Is the I3 the 1/8th mile mark?

Thanks in advance

As obvious by the 60' times you are blowing the tires off.Sounds like it's blowing them off after the 1-2 shift also. Street tires werent made for track action. Practice and try a set of Drag radials. With practice and a A4 you should be able to hit 2.0-1.9 60's on street tires.

it is hard to say how well teh car is actually working since yougot out of the gas at soem point during each of your runs.
if you work on the traction with just some simple stuff, drop the front sway bar and run with a full tank of gas, maybe you can get enough grip to get the car all teh way down the lane under power and we can see teh mph you are turning.
tractionis the key to et's. anything you can do to hook a little better off the line will show huge gains at the other end ofthe track.

Put some drag radials on, disconnect or remove the front swaybar, pump up the front tires to 40psi at the track, do not drive through the water box, remove all excess cargo from the car, remove the spare tire/jack, heat up the tires and stage shallow for maximum rollout. Usually, 16-22 psi works well with Nitto DRs. Good luck and Keep us posted.

Isnt the 99 mph trap speed good for 14 flat by itself? Cause if so I should be mid 13's with practice and traction. I was only running a 1/3 tank so that probably didnt help traction at all. I think I will be making the 2 hour drive soon to get some more runs in. Either that or getting a G-tech and hitting some open backroad to get a little work in b4 hand. But probably not cuz like I said.... on the street I dont always have traction issues for some reason.

Oh yeah.... I luckily was the only skill and traction lacking individual. Besides the fact that all my buddies lower hp cars ran better , here ar some low lights that made me feel not so bad.
2002 black C5 14.5
99 red C5 14.3
Silver Z06 13.4
Dodge Viper 12.6 ( I dont know if that is slow for them or not but I thought it was)

I saw a pontiac GTP run 13.1
and a turbo beetle run 13.9

Felt like it. I mean when my buddy dynoed 254rwhp 293tq to my 270rwhp and 350tq. He rana best ever 13.85 w/ a 2.01 60 ft to my 14.4. But you what they say...... power is useless if you cant harness it.
