Intermittent ignition/fuel

Intermittent ignition/fuel
Hey Fellas!
I'm having some issues with my 97 Z28. It has intermittent ignition or fuel, not sure which one. Here's what the car is doing:
When driving, holding your throttle foot steady, the car will jerk and cut in and out, badly at times. It was doing this so bad one time last year that the car could not be re-started and had to be towed home. I later found out about the anti-theft system and bypassed it with a resistor. The car ran fine after I installed that for a short time.
Now, it is doing it again, randomly. You could be on a smooth as glass piece of freeway, cruise set on 70, and it just starts bucking like a bronco. Seems to come and go, never know when it will happen. I have a brand new delphi optispark because I thought that was the problem also. What are the chances it's a fuel pump? I have installed a gauge in the last few months and driven it watching the gauge. Ofcourse, when I did this, the ignition/fuel worked perfect and it did not buck....any ideas?

Re: Intermittent ignition/fuel
Fred-the next time I drive the car I will watch the volt meter closely. All the gauges seem to work fine, speedo, temp, etc. The fuel gauge has never operated correctly since I have had the car. Half tank=empty. There is not a check engine light either. This never happened for the first 3 years I have owned the car. Now it seems to happen every time I drive it.
