Were you able to have him unlock it or will you have to continue to play this game with him (Ed)?
When do you think it will be back?
Good luck.

But I think they have been using it as a paperweight for the last few days. It should be here tommorrow though(sat delivery rules!) Then from tha point its just plug and play. Hey Marc hows the Z coming? Is that rocket going to be done before summer's over? or are we going to have to wait till next year to see the car in action? Hope all is well! Once you get that thing ready there are some L98 guys talking smack about us f-bodies, and you know we cant let that stand.Chris
96Z28SS: Hum... how did I get dragged into this? I really don't have to explain anything to you and wonder why some guys are so quiet in person but their fingers do alot of talking on the keyboard (just a general comment
) I don't see Mike doing bolt on work to the Z. We don't do welding here and they have an excellent welder that can come in and take care of things. He did an excellent job welding the bypass. I also needed some custom fabrication done when the F1 went on. That was being done the same time that an extension was being put on the building so it was alot easier to have Mike take care of it. ARE built the motor that is in the car so that is a good reason to see them for tuning. Other shops in the country also visit them for the same thing. I'm here today for an ATI install so there isn't a new "learning experience" (hope this helps you sleep better
).
It doesn't really matter who tunes the car it's the end result that is important. The car made 672hp yesterday and it's far from being finished. I'm aiming for 700+ before tapping into the carbon fiber bottle that is mounted in the hatch.
NEDYNO and Dez Racing both do good work. Some people make this into a big competition when it really isn't. We all have respect for eachother and that's what counts. Dez is know for being a "Mustang Guy" but he is trying to shed that image. They do alot of work with Fords but have no problem working on or tuning GM cars if needed. Dean pretty much covers everything and has a very nice ignition upgrade that the LT1 guys might want to check out.
Take care,
Tom

Tom, I don't know why your mad at me or directed your post towards me, I got in this thread way after people already started comparing shop to shop.
I just wondered why you would have Mike do work on the car and not the tuning, when other people here(needforspd_Z) said he was capable of tuning GM cars.
It was just my opinion and my assumption when I looked at things.
Thanks for clarifing, but next time try to get in the thread earlier so that it doesn't get out of hand.

Rob,
I might have taken things wrong and if so I apologize for that. Most of my comments were just general statements. We're been running about 3-4 weeks out in installation work plus I've had way to much to do and not even close to enough time to do as much work to my own vehicles as I want to. My "quiet time" to do my own work is usually between midnight and 3am
There was alot of discussion between myself, Mike and a shop in N.J. We were trying to figure out which way to go with the programming for this car. Tossed around the idea of scrapping the factory PCM and even had the parts to do it (minus the crank trigger) but I decided against that after speaking with Nick at ARE. They said that they could tune the factory computer to run with this combo and also keep it very driveable. So they were the people that were chosen to do the computer work. The programmer that they have is very knowledgeable and did a good job with it.
Alot of cars that come together (shop cars or personal) are usually a team effort. We all use our experience to decide what will be the best way to go with many different products and to make it all work together.
I just re-read you post 3 times and see that I did take it a little out of context. Again I apologize.

as usual. The PCM just showed up today, and tommorrow she's got the dyno all to herself. Hopefully Ed fixed all the "bugs" in the programming. Good to hear you are almost ready!! I cant wait to see the beast in action again. Seems like nothing has went smooth for either of us, lately that seems to be the name of the game
Well theres still a month left in the summer lets hope we can still get some track time!
