Wiring Question.

I had a couple quick questions for you guys.. First one was where do you guys get your switched 12+ source from? I have heard some people take it from a wire in the radio harness so if someone could confirm this or enlighten me as to a better source to splice into. Also, where are you guys getting your ground from? Do you go directly to the battery or do you go off the chassis somewhere. All suggestions, info., or pictures is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Re: Wiring Question.

Radio or Accessory switched ignition is fine; and the ground on the chassis is fine also. I tend to use a screw (actually I think it's a nut) under the dash just to the left of the radio if I'm installing all the switches in the center console. It's near the ALDL port...

Re: Wiring Question.

For "switched" 12V power, not in large quantities, there is a terminal in the fuse block at the end of the dash, labeled "IGN". Its a 1/4" male spade lug in a small square hole. Protected by the adjacent fuse. Crimp a 1/4" female connector on the wire and push it over the spade lug. I use that for the "arming" switch, but just for the signal wires to the relays for the solenoids. The main power to the solenoids can be wired direct from the red "+" terminal box near the battery, to the relays for the solenoids, using a fuse of the appropriate size for the wire you use. Grounds can be made directly to the chassis. Just verify its a good ground.

Re: Wiring Question.

Fred - Can I use the terminal you suggested in the fuse block for both my bottle warmer switch and nitrous arming switch? (i.e. crimp both ends of the wire into one female terminal and run to the respective switches?)

Re: Wiring Question.

You can use it only if its being used as the "signal" power to relays. You can't directly power a bottle warmer or the solenoids. I have several devices on there, and did manage to blow the 15A fuse that protects it when multiple devices were activated. I checked the wire size in the circuit, and it seems to be adequate to up that fuse to 20A, so that's what I've done.

Re: Wiring Question.

Yup, i intend to use them as the signal power only for the two switches (bottle warmer and n20 arming switch). They are both lit when "on" so im hoping its ok to run both of them from this terminal.

Re: Wiring Question.

Hi,

Was wondering as getting ready to hook up (key on) heated Oxy sensor, NOS wiring and a few other items;

Would it be a good idea to install an Aux Fuse panel Looked at a few from Summit that come
with 3 or more plugins. Also come with 1 or two relays
attached. And where would be the best source as to key on
hookup for the AUX panel??

Any Thoughts ??

Thanks
