Use C16, add timing

Stock block Im running a 200 shot and pulling 8 degrees of timing with pump gas. This time i have C16 in the tank and am trying to decide how much timing to add back into it. Any thoughts??

Without knowing the type of engine and heads.... how could anyone even attempt to answer this question? V6, SBC 1, LT1, LSx????????

Re: Use C16, add timing

I used to have all my mods on my signature I don't know why i took them off but the motor is the best engine of course, its a stock LT1 with bolt-ons. Yeah I know a 200 shot is a little risky and Im not expecting to last long. I have an Pcmforless NA tune the timing is advanced for power to 37 degrees peak and even with me retarding 8 degrees it seems like a lot of timing for a 200 shot and I haven't noticed any detonation or I just don't know how to diagnose detonation that's why Im doing what's in my first post.

Re: Use C16, add timing

I think retarding the timing Zero degrees will work. Maybe I can even put more timing into it.

Re: Use C16, add timing

Timing is reduced not only to prevent knock, but also because the flame front will be advanced with the nitrous. Therefore reducing the timing will make more power.

Re: Use C16, add timing

The cars I've seen on the dyno with C16 don't need much timing. Why do you think you should advance your timing when using it? The only way to really find out is put it on a dyno. Thing is, with a stock bottom end and a 200 shot, you are already pusihing the envelope. You could easily hole a piston or break something big time with too much timing and the nitrous on stock pistons. If I were going to try and tune that kind of combo, I'd start by taking some timing away and see if that helps your traps - you may find you need less timing just as likely as more.

also your using leaded fuel with o2 sensors ?do you have lead safe units? It wont take but a few passes to kill em.
