Thinking of Zex controller on to maintain prefect "mix"

My Current setup:
Wet kit, standalone fuel system with low pressure fuel pump, NX Shark Nozzle, running about 150hp to the wheels with likelyhood of moving to 200-250 with another nozzle being added, ignition system is an LTCC.

I have my bottle in the trunk and will be installing a remote bottle opener over the winter.

I monitor bottle pressure at the track to stay around 1000psi.

However, when driving around town, there may be instances where I want to "play" a little with the nitrous. By flicking a switch, the bottle is opened, and the system is ready to go... however, I'm sure that the Nitrous pressure will not always be around 1000psi.

I was thinking of just using a thermostatically controlled bottle heater.... but I'd really not want to keep it on all the time when I'm driving.

I was thinking a Zex Controller would work well as it has Active Fuel Control... so I'm thinking that if by chance, one cool summer evening I'm cruising and pull up next to some competition, I flick the bottle opener.... and see my pressure is only at 800psi.... the controller will be able to adjust for it.... I know, the power won't be optimal at that level, but it would give me that little extra boost.

Any thoughts.... or am I out in left field with this idea?

I think you're worrying about it too much. An 800psi bottle will reduce nitrous flow by about 10% (compared to 1000psi), resulting in a slightly rich mixture, but so what? You just won't see the full 150HP, but you'll be close. The ZEX might keep it closer to the intended A/F mixture, but that's giving up HP too. The amount of difference isn't going to be that great.

If you have a dash mounted nitrous pressure gauge, its fairly easy to flip the heater switch every once in a while to keep the pressure up. Alternatively, use a temperature or pressure controlled heater..... it will only actually draw power when it needs to.

You also need to realize that your bottle pressure is determined by its temperature, so you will see much less than 800psi on cooler days without a heater.

40*F - 520 psi
50*F - 590 psi
60*F - 675 psi
70*F - 760 psi
80*F - 865 psi
90*F - 980 psi

The bottle heater is a better investment.
