I have been buging Ion enough latley and figured I would post this hear.

I am going to run a 100 shot on my car for right now. No 150 untill I get a few more things.
I just got a PCM tune from Ion and did not select Nitrous because I did not know I would be on it. Does he advance the timing or leave it alone for N/A cars?
Any of you guys with his tuning run a 100 shot or better with no retard?

I am half tempted to sen dthe PCM back and have it updated for a 150 but wouldent it then pull timing at WOT no matter what?

 

Usually most tuners advance the timing on NA Tunes,
I have a PCMforless NA tuner in my pcm and I am now running N20 with a retard box to solve the problem and all is running well, I suggest the Mallory Hy Fire 685 box because it has timing retard ,window switch, and rev limiter all in one.

I pulled 2* frommy pcm tune and it runs great on the dope.

 

You don't want to "tune down" your NA tune to run nitrous. Leave it exactly the way it is, to maximize NA power. Do the tuning for your nitrous "externally".... jets control the A/F ratio, and an ignition/retard box takes care of the timing.

 

I was thinking about a retard box so I think I will go that route.

 

What all is needed to make that mallory hyfire 685 work? I too have an Ion tune and it isnt tuned for nitrous.

 

you just need the box and its not a must but I would suggest the plug and play harness from mallory also that way you just have to color match the wires and plug it in instaed of cutting and hacking up your stock harness,

after that just follow the instructions to operate it.

I looked in Summit and Crane has a retard with a controller that mounts in the car, so does MSD, I like this idead because you can retart the engine really quick in the car and don't have to pop the hood to do it.

Everyones thoughts?

does the mallory 685 have the ability to pull timing only on the n20? or can i run optimal timing n/a and then pull 3 or 4 for the gas

 

Yes, the mallory can be set up to pull timing once you hit the spray.

 

Simple. Activate it with the WOT switch, which only gets power when the N2O activation switch is on.
