Loaded plugs??Fine on spray rough off.

Okay he is my story lol.

I just got done installing a NX wet kit last week. 125 shot.
Plugs are NGK TR7s

I pulled around 5-6* timing from 80%-100%. with tunercat.

I dump the tune in and the car runs fine. I sprayed the car WOT 2nd and 3rd. Slowed down then shut the car down (at my destination lol)

I come out start the car and it seems to run okay but seems like it was surging a bit. I went onto a back road and got on the car (NO SPRAY) the car stumbled and hesitated.

So i drove home hooked up the Datamaster and drove it no codes or anything. Wasnt retarding timing etc. But it did seem to fluctuate when crusing (1800rpm 1900rpm...1800rpm...1900rpm etc)

SO now the car sits. I called my friend (taner 9sec6speed) whom runs a 350 shot in his LT1. And he said the plugs are most likly loaded.

He recommended me to change them then drive the car Spray it and shut it down then pull/change the plugs and read them (bring to him so he knows)

Sound about right?......i hope it isnt like this alot on spray bc if so i will take the kit off lol.

Is it possible your fuel solenoid or nitrous solenoid is leaking?

Off topic.... but why did you retard the timing in the PCM, reducing the NA performance? Why wouldn't you optimize the tune for NA, then use an external box to pull the timing, assuring you of good performance both ways?

Well im a tad on the poor side since i just dropped this motor in and a ton in exhaust etc. I plan on buying a mallory 685 box or equivilant.

I dont think any are leaking since i have pulled the nossle and reved the motor up and nothing came out.

do like you said and pull the spark plugs, then tell us what they look like.

What jets are you using/and air fuel ratio?

I am assuming LT1 casting heads....that is a very cold plug for just a 125 shot

what is your base timing set at....that sounds like alot of timing to pull but is not the entire problem.

It sounds like there is a combination of issues....to cold a plug, potentially rich on the nitrous tune, which in turn is fouling the plugs.

If Taner can help you read the plugs it will be a very good way to get the nitrous tuned for your car.

p.s. tell him all the TX boys are hooked on his beer

LOL i will let him know lol.

The car was tuned N/A last weekend A/F was at about 12.6:1 (where is it was making best power)

As for jets Im running 57N--33F 125 shot

When I get home I will copy/paste the screen shots of my timing. I wanna say My WOT timing when scaling 5* or so of my N/A tune was around the 30* mark. But now Im starting to think it is low bc My old 355 timing was around 37* and the old owner ran a 100 shot.

Maybe try bumping the timing up a small bit at a time and see which it likes the most. It doesnt help that I need an O2 for my wideband so I dont know what it is doing on spray. I am gonna change the plugs when i get home and run it again and see.

ALSO TR7s Gapped at 0.037. (taner recommended me to run a plug this cold)

to give you an idea...I ran TR6's in a 396cid, 12.2:1cr, 150 shot, 4*retard on 38* base timing. Same plug, 8* retard on a 200shot. 13.0 NA A/F, 11.8 A/F on 150. 11.5 on 200.

Taner has a lot of experience with nitrous and LT1's so I am not second guessing him. It sounds like he is starting conservative and working up to the correct tune. Reading the plugs will tell you if the plugs are to cold, timing and A/F adjustments needed.

OKay I swapped a new set of plugs in today gapped at .038 (i have 2 sets of TR7s). The plugs that came out looks the usual Mostly lean looking (bc my idle is lean on the car) SO i plan on spraying the car possibly tomorrow then pulling over and checking plugs from each side. Maybe I will try with around 33* total WOT timing and see.
