Measurements were made at 3" and converted to 28".

Re: ZO6 MAF flow numbers

OK should be pretty similar then. Mine were made at 5 inches and converted.

I got a 383 that runs up to 6500 with a stock descreened MAF and 52mm TB. I've been considering moving the stock LT1 intake, TB and MAF to my IROC when I get the LT1 in, and going with a Z06 MAF, LS1 intake and single plane with a 58mm TB in the near future. Altjar, did you notice any horsepower improvements solely by switching to the Z06 MAF on your car?

I did notice a huge difference when I switched from a single 3" catback to true duals. Now I understand that exhaust and heat, etc is different from what happens on the intake side of an engine, but I'm kinda thinking the same way when it comes to the MAF. I'm guessing the single plane will give me more power over the stock LT1 intake at all RPMs, except maybe under 2000, and dont want to stock MAF and 52mm hurting the SP's airflow capabilities. I need those parts for my 350 anyway.

Maybe this way, it'll also give the modded guys more of an idea if they should switch MAF's. What I would like to see is some dyno tests on modded cars, or a vacuum test pre and post sensor.

Re: ZO6 MAF flow numbers

Rather than being relative to a 383 since there are varying degrees of such, at what HP/TQ point N/A would the stocker be restrictive and the Z06 be beneficial? I am shooting for 400-430rwhp out of my new LT4 setup and was wondering if the Z06 might be worth it. I'd be having it dyno tuned by Bryan from PCM4LESS within a month of install. Thanks.

Re: ZO6 MAF flow numbers

I had the stock MAF when making ~485 flywheel hp and once the monoblade was on never saw more than 0.5" of vacuum on my 383. Stock MAF as in from the factory, it still has the screen and all of the baffling, never been touched with any sort of a porting tool.

When I had the 52mm throttle body it would pull up to 3" on the top end, so I would imagine that with a proper induction system (filter, tubing, 58mm or monoblade, etc.) a stock MAF should support most setups to 500 flywheel HP and still not be a significant enough restriction to make an effect on power.

Re: ZO6 MAF flow numbers

I didnt notice any power gains. My whole intake system is 4inch, so I wanted the MAF to be 4 inch also.

The car did run much better with the Zo6 maf than the ported stock.

Are you sure about that? That's not the way I understand it. The way I understand it is that even OBDI, even when in PE mode, still uses the numbers from the MAF to determine how much fuel to provide (with the extra enrichment from the PE tables as well) which is what allows it to keep the same (well, close) A/F ratio under differing atmospheric conditions--it's actually measuring how much air is entering the engine. Unless, of course, you're running an open loop tune in which case you don't need a MAF at all and the computer guesses how much air is entering based on temp, baro, RPM, etc.

Am I all wet?

It seemed like this just dropped off and left us hanging. I know it's over a year old now, is there any new info on this topic?
